Chestnut Pool

“Chestnut” as it has become affectionately known is an outstanding mixed fishery which offers 1 st class sport for all anglers from beginners to expert. Regularly featured in the angling press and listed in the Angling Times top 50 day ticket venues in the UK .

The Lake of 3 acres has a large stock but is no means just carp water. If you wish to target carp we have fish from singles to upper twenties, or if you fancy something different our famous golden tench are stunning and are often caught from the margins along with big roach, rudd, perch, bream and crucians. Chestnut Pool regularly attracts the big names in the sport.

Fish at Chestnut - Chestnut's stock comprises of Carp, Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Crucians. This offers total variety something for everyone, from Pleasure fishing, Match fishing to Carp fishing.

Carp2
We have had some excellent match weights with our lake records broken in what has been a fantastic summer. The three hour evening match record is now 111lb with the Sunday five hour open match record being 187lb both of these records were set on the pole.  The lake record is 400lb caught by James Anthony on the feeder.

Anglers fishing the pole need to be prepared for some epic battles with the fish on the pole line being some of the hardest fighting fish you will ever hook.

All baits are worth a try, but depending on your chosen method, boilies, groundbait feeder, meat, corn, cat meat and pellets all work well. Worms and casters are also excellent baits particularly for the Tench, Bream and Silver fish.

Carp

If Carp are your preferred quarry then standard ledgering or feeder tactics work best with catches of over 30 fish a day common place. The main stock of carp are mirrors and commons that are between 5lbs and 10lbs there are also hundreds of double's with a good head of 20's

Matches - Open matches are held every Sunday all year, as well as day tickets being available. We hold a Summer league (sponsorship by Fox International) from Mid May until the end of July on a Tuesday evening, during this period the lake will close at 4.30pm.

If you have any questions please come to the fishing tackle shop and we will be more then happy to try and help. The fishery is open 7 days a week, from March to November from 7am till dusk or 21.00 hours which ever is earliest and during December to March 7.30 am till dusk.

Every Tuesday until the 31 July the lake closes at 4.30 to hold our  Fox Summer League matches.
