The Lower Bann is  considered to be Northern Ireland's premier coarse fishing river. It is a wide and deep river and is strongly affected by heavy rain that is collected into Lough Neagh by tributaries and flushed out along the Lower Bann by means of automated lough gates. The flow of the river strongly effects the fishing methods used. The pole, Whip and feeder are the most common methods used. Anglers would need to be prepared  for the unpredictable flow strengths of the river as they can change overnight. It contains a good head of Bream, Roach, Eels and Hybrids. Recent weights include two roach weights of 33kg. Now that is fishing.

Rod Licence's and Permit : All anglers must be in possession of a valid FCB rod licence and Bann Systems fishing permit. The rod licence's are either 3 day, 14 day or annual. The 3 day licence is currently £3.50 and the 14 day £8 at this years prices, we have arranged with the FCB to buy the licence's direct from them.  Bann Systems controls the fishing along The Lower Bann, they normally only issue a yearly permit that costs around £30.  Bann systems website  is very useful  http://www.bannsystem.com/index2.htm .
