Bait Zone Bloodworm Range On the Bank

With
Rob Fielding

UKMA first got a good look at the Bait Zone Bloodworm pellets and liquid about a month ago and fortune would have it that whilst out on a session with the ATT crazy gang at Berners Hall carp fishery near Ongar in deepest Essex. ATT and Gardner Tackle backed all round top bloke Rob Fielding was generous enough to let us in on a little secret that had accounted for numerous good fish for both him and his fellow ATT consultant Lee Merritt on numerous southern waters over the past few weeks. So to find out how they have been using these impressive products to get the very best from a session, we highly recommend that you read on!

During the 30 hour session at Berners Hall we experienced high pressure, clear blue skies, a south easterly wind and bitterly cold nights. To be totally honest the lake was not in the mood for giving up her deepest secrets to everyone without a battle and with most anglers in attendance being stupid enough to sit it out in these less than poor conditions for a liner let alone a decent take. I have to admit though; I was quietly impressed with Rob Fielding's performance, taking four fish of the bottom during the night to over 26lbs. He was obviously doing something right that the fish liked and I was not letting him leave until he had spilled the beans.

Big Sticks Full Of Glug

What Rob was doing was brilliant in its simplicity. Basically he was using 3 boillies broken into halves and quarters, Bait Zone White groundbait, Bait Zone Bloodworm 2.5mm &4.5mm Pellets mixed and Bait Zones Active Bait Dip Bloodworm liquid to glug to create a PVA stick. Rob preferred to use the found the Gardner Tackle 38mm Wide Boy Fishnet Easi-Loada which he finds perfect for this style of bait presentation and he prepares a stick that was about 4 inches long. He starts by adding the White groundbait, about an inch and a half is perfect (40mm), then a add the broken boillies and finish the stick off with about 2 inches (50mm) of mixed Bloodworm Pellets, then pack the contents down and tie off.

Rob then places several of these pre-prepared bags in a bucket with about half a litre of Bait Zones Active Bait Dip Bloodworm liquid in the bottom and by rolling them around he ensures that every inch of the bag is literally oozing with red liquid and then leaves them to soak until they are needed. Using a long stick needle, he pushed the baiting tool through the end loaded with pellets first and out through the end that is loaded with groundbait. He then attaches his hooklink to the clasp and pulls it back through the bag this means his hook is nestled in a dispersible bed of bait ensuring that the hook point is not damaged or stuck in a pellet or piece of boillie. (Clever)

Once you have totally glugged the hookbait and the rig is connected, Rob chose to use a bait boat to deliver each of these large sticks out to the marker float that was situated on a plateau at about 120 yards out.

He explained “I would normally never consider using a boat to deliver PVA bags and sticks as the potential for water to splash and break the PVA down before it reaches its final destination is risk not worth taking. However, I know that these bags are so heavily glugged with liquid bloodworm that they take 2 minutes to break down when totally submerged in water, so I’m confident they will make it to the marker and then to the bottom before they break down”.

Rob then took a couple of these very heavily glugged 4 inch long sticks and threw them in about three foot of tap clear water in the margins and said “watch this”. True to form about two minutes later the bag exploded and released a flurry of red stained groundbait and pellets. Then this slow ooze of red liquid started drifting out in all directions creating a slow moving cloud of attractant that you just know that fish will home in on and eventually feed on the mixed glugged offerings dispersed by the stick, This simple but effective demonstration and the fact Rob had caught fish steadily all night made one obvious point, it definitely works.

Foot Note

This has given UKMA comprehensive proof that the Bait Zone Bloodworm range of products has most definitely got something about them that fish simply love. I very rarely get excited about a bait range but these blood red pellets and liquid from Bait Zone have through test truly impressed me. With numerous big named anglers already taking waters apart with these products the proof is definitely in the pudding, lets face it, fish on the bank speak volumes and Bait Zone do have a lot to shout about with these superb offerings in 2011.
