Coldwater Hotspot Bundle

During the colder months, daylight is at a premium, temperatures have dropped, the fish have started to slow down their metabolism and therefore eating less due to the fact that they expend less energy when the water is colder. With this in mind, anglers tend to cut back on the amount of bait that they put in their swims on their chosen spots, on the chance that a fish may come across it and grab an oppurtunist easy mouthful of food. CC Moore have recognised this and put together a bait combination that they feel will offer the angler the best chance of a bite during the colder months.

The Coldwater Hotspot bundle is made up of three items from the CC Moore range; 2KG of Coldwater Hotspot bag/stick mix, 250ml of the dedicated Coldwater Hotspot liquid and a tub of 12mm Hellraiser pop-ups (available in a choice of colours and flavours). For our review purposes, we were sent the bundle containing the 12mm Chocolate & Lime Hellraiser hookbaits.

The Coldwater Hotspot Bag/Stick Mix has been made up of ingredients that are known to be effective in cold water conditions. The mix contains a variety of small pellets from the CC Moore range including bloodworm pellets and the superb Milkimin pellets. The mix itself it quite fine and when combined with the supplied liquid, mixes up superbly for a fast breakdown in the water. The 2KG bag of the mix should last the angler several sessions over the colder months as it does not require large amounts to be made up and left to allow the liquid to be fully absorbed by the mix. When mixed up, the Coldwater Hotspot mix feels quite coarse, but this allows for the cold water to break the mix down quickly. A small bag or stick of this around the hookbait will give any angler the confidence in thinking that this cast is "a bite"

The Coldwater Hotspot liquid has been made up of a blend of cold water soluble attracters, including liquid aminos, which will leak out into the baited area quickly and attract passing fish to the mix and the all important hookbait. When opening the bottle for the first time, you can smell the very sweet, almost caramel/chocolate like aroma coming from the bottle. Sweet flavours are known to be effective in cold water and the Coldwater Hotspot bundle follows this very well. The Coldwater Hotspot liquid is suppling in a 250ml bottle and the label states that the liquid should be used at a ratio of 50ml per kilo of dry bag/stick mix. This ratio is just a guide, and if you wish, you can use more of the liquid or use combine a small amount of one of the other CC Moore liquid additives such as the awesome FeedStim XP or one of the liquid food range such as Krill Amino Compound or Liquid Bloodworm Extract.

CC Moore have thought this bundle out extremly well, and the anglers hookbait choice has also been covered in the bundle. In the bundle, a pot of 12mm Hellraiser pop-ups are supplied and the angler has a choice of flavour and colour from Sweet Cream (white), Pineapple (Yellow), Strawberry Ice Cream (Pink), Blue Squid (Blue), Chocolate Lime (Green), Cranberry & Blackcurrant (Purple), Fruity Plum (Red) or Peach & Black Pepper (Black). As already mentioned, UKMA were supplied with the Chocolate Lime hookbaits. The bright green colour of the supplied hoobaits stands out extremely well in the clearer water conditions that most anglers experience during the colder months, and look extremely appetising over the bag mix. The 12mm Hellraisers supplied kept a size 8 Chod rig upright during the day session that the review was carried out on as well as helping a Snowman presentation incorporating a 15mm CC Moore Live System bottom bait and a Hellraiser popup combination. The balance between the 15mm bottom bait and 12mm pop-up was superb and it would take the slightest of suck from a carp to draw the hookbait and hook into the mouth.

First Impressions.

During the short day session that the review was carried out on, a new venue was visited that holds around 40 fish in 3 acres of water. The water was gin clear due to a cold snap that had come across the region, and the fish were not active at all. I was confident of getting a bite Unfortunately the fish did not feel the same and I didn't even see a single sign of a fish all day. After speaking to the bailiff, I was told that the lake had not done a bite for several weeks due to the weather. During the winter months, you expect this from time to time, and even the most effective bait in the world won't catch you a fish if they are not feeding or moving around (unless you place the bait directly on its nose!). As explained in the above, the Coldwater Hotspot bundle performed as it was expected to. The moistened bag mix broke down into a lovely small patch with the hookbait sitting in the middle of it. The bright green colour of the Hellraiser pop-up stood out over the mix like a red rag to a bull, and if a fish had come across it, I am certain that it would have gone head down onto the baited patch. During some quick tests with the liquid and some pva, there was no sign of the pva melting so the angler could, if they wished, use small solid bags of neat Coldwater Hotspot liquid to offer a faster attractor release into the water.

Overall on first impressions, the Coldwater Hotspot Bundle offers the perfect bait package for the angler that fishes through the winter. The amount of dry mix and liquid should last the average angler several sessions on the average water, but also give the angler that fishes heavier stocked commercial waters the edge over other anglers fishing.

The CC Moore Coldwater Hotspot Bundle can only be bought via the CC Moore website and has a RRP of £13.99 saving the angler £6.50 over buying the products individually. At that price, can you not afford to give it a try? I know that this will be in my bait bucket every trip until the Spring weather warms up the water.
