CC Moore & Co Ltd Live System

CC Moore's range of boilies (and other baits) are held in high regard in both the carp and specialist areas of angling, and with boilies becoming the de-facto standard bait for the specimen fish in modern times, there is very little difference between the rigs and baits used on both lakes and rivers.

The Live System from CC Moore was one of the company's first boilies, and has been a solid part of the range for several years now. The Live System falls into the category of being a true all-season bait so the angler will not need to consider changing baits once the cold weather starts to set in or when the weather starts to warm up in Spring. The boilies have a highly digestable base which is further enhanced by the addition of milk proteins, yeasts, textured vegetable proteins, bird foods, cream powders, Corn Steep Liquor powder and other easily digestible ingredients. The aroma that comes off the baits when the bag is opened can be only described as being "divine" and is extremely "wife friendly". The creamy undertones of the bait are instantly picked up by the nose, with hints of nut and marzipan. The make-up of the Live System lends itself perfectly to being matched with glugs outside of the dedicated named range, so the angler can use the bait system together or include other attractors to give the angler their own unique blend. We would recommend that fruity or sweet additives be used if you wish to create your own unique attractor blend.

The light beige colour of the Live System is instantly recognised to the fish as being "safe" to eat as it would be hard to distinguish between a fresh bait and a darker coloured bait that may have been in the water for several days. During our tests, we found that the Live System requires no pre-baiting to catch fish.

The Live System boilies are available in the regular sizes (10mm, 15mm, 18mm) and in a wide variety of pack sizes (1kg - 250kg!). Dumbell shaped baits are also available in the range.

The Live System also includes a serious range of supplementary products to complete the range.

All anglers are using pop-ups with the trend for todays rigs to be targeted towards them, and a very bouyant pop-up is probably the number one hookbait used over a season. To cater for the rigs that anglers are using currently, CC Moore have included corkball pop-ups into the range. For those that may not know exactly what a corkball pop-up is, it is a corkball that is wrapped in a layer of the boilie paste before being boilied. The use of a corkball in the bait means that the bouyancy of the bait will not be affected over several hours due to water ingression into the bait. Baits rolled in this manner are also identical to the loose offerings giving confidence to the angler that the hookbait is not being ignored for being different. It is possible to push a sharp baiting needle through the corkball popups, but they are best used tied on with dental floss. If you prefer to push a needle through the bait and use on a traditional hair, then the Airball popups that CC Moore also do are more suitable in being softer. The Corkball pop-ups are available in 14mm (50 baits) or 18mm (35 baits) sizes at a RRP of £9.99 per tub.

Hardened hookbaits are also available for the angler that may be fishing a venue that contains crayfish or lots of small silver fish, that may whittle a standard bottom bait away in next to no time. The hardened hookbaits are harder than the standard boilies but are still piercable with a safety barb type needle (please take care when using a needle on hardened baits) or if preferred, a bait drill. The hardened hookbaits are available in 14mm or 18mm sizes at a RRP of £5.49 per tub.

No bait range would be complete without a dedicated bait dip or glug, and CC Moore have blended together the liquid attractors that are used in the Live System to create a matching liquid additive. The Live System Bait Dip/Glug can be used as specified by dipping or glugging boilies in as well as being added to particle mixes (especially effective when added straight after the boiling stage of particle preperation) or even poured directly into PVA bags for superb attraction without feeding the fish (particularly good in winter). The Bait Dip has a RRP of £5.75 per 250ml.

Final Thoughts

The UKMA team have seen a lot of baits over the years and know a good bait straight away. The Live System falls into the "exceptional" bait sector, and one of the team has already said that this is their choice of bait for the forseeable future, to the point that he has cleared out his bait freezer already of other baits that were in there!. All the items perfectly supplement each other and there is no distinct change in aroma or taste when combined together. As the Live System contains a hgh percentage of milk proteins, it is advised that the baits are kept as cool as possible after defrosting to be at their most effective. We can see that the Live System will be perfectly matched to the CC Moore Milkimin pellets and NS1 Pop-ups (which are other baits that have taken a firm place in our team members armoury).

We have been out on the bank with the Live System and had some very good success on the bait, where other anglers fishing with different baits have struggle. UKMA founder, Ray Best took the Live System out on one of his sessions before the "Big Freeze", and took a splendid 24lb 4oz Common on it where other anglers on the lake struggled.
