CC MOORE Northern Specials NS1

CC Moore & Co is without question one of the best known suppliers of top quality baits available to the carp enthusiast in the U.K today. CC Moore’s great success has come from the combination of years of experience in animal nutrition and feed formulation, combined with an obsessive passion for angling, which over the years has enabled them to develop high nutrient value baits for all aspects of coarse fishing. In fact CC Moore & Co Ltd have been in the milling and animal feed industry for over 150 years, perfecting the essential skills required to produce top quality baits and associated products to the highest standards.

One of the best known anglers that CC Moore has on board and most definitely the most recognisable would have to be Gaz Fareham. Since joining CC Moore in 2009 he has been heavily involved in the development of new products to keep the already well established CC Moore brand name ahead of the game. One of the products that has caught our eye and many others over the past year or so, is the superb new range of Pop ups released for 2010, the Northern Specials NS1, read on to find out exactly what Gaz Fareham has been keeping secret for some time now.

One of the first things you notice when you break the seal of the well presented tubs and un-screw the lid, is the instant waft of mixed citrus fruits, rocking your nasal senses. This aromatically exciting experience is very sweet but not too over powering, I personally would describe the aroma as being very similar to the inside of a family pack of Starburst that has been left on the dash board of a car on a very hot summers day. If aroma was the most important factor in catching a fish, then the Northern Specials NS1 is a must have flavour, absolutely gorgeous!! 

Unlike many other ranges of pop ups available, where the huge number of colours on display often confuse the angler rather than assisting them. CC Moore have taken on board the advice of Gaz Fareham and released a range that only come in two colours, white and pink and in two sizes, 12mm and 16mm. To enhance the performance of the Northern Specials NS1, you also get a separate sachet of NS1 dedicated liquid, that when added to the baits in advance of use gives the Northern Specials an extra boost, greatly improving the baits release and performance in the water.

Inside each tub you will find thirty (30) 16mm hook baits which are ideal partner to the all popular “Chod” or Pop up, Stiff Link rigs, and they will easily keep a size 5 hook up for at least 48 hours. The 12mm tubs contain forty five (45) hook baits and are ideal to use as a wafter or as critically balanced bait. Whilst using a standard size 6 hook the 12mm pop up will sit the length of the hair off the bottom. Both sizes can also be trimmed or cut in half and fished back to back with half of another hook bait to create a unique combination in appearance, aroma and presentation.

Final Thoughts

The Northern Specials NS1 Pop Ups are a very original twist to an established and popular form of bait presentation that can be used for numerous situations in your day to day carp angling. Being a great lover of the pop up and the associated rigs, I for one personally think the NS1 are one of the most original Pop Ups I have seen for a very long time. On first impressions, the Northern Special pop ups from CC Moore really do look and smell the part and are now secured in my bait bag ready to be tested, if I eventually get back out on the bank (this weekend, fingers crossed).
