CC Moore
The NS1 New additions for 2011

First Impressions

Just arrived in the UKMA office are the latest additions to the awesome Northern Specials range from CC Moore. Originally developed for CC Moore by northern carp supremo Gaz Fareham, the original range of Pop Ups soon developed a huge cult following across the country (myself included). The instantly recognisable and very distinctive citrus flavour of the NS1 have accounted for numerous big fish already including my own PB and the baits CV just keeps on getting bigger. To enhance the NS1 range and it’s all round versatility seven new products have been added to the range for 2011, here’s a sneak preview.

Northern Specials NS1 Yellow & Red Pop Ups

To accompany the already successful Pink and white versions of the NS1 Pop Ups you know have Yellow (Pictured) and Red versions in both 12mm and 16mm sizes to give you even more options when out on the bank. As with the already established pink and white baits in the range you get a sachet of the NS1 Booster liquid to enhance these superb Pop Up baits attraction even more. The team at UKMA has found that you get the best results by adding the Booster liquid a couple of night before you plan on using the Pop Ups.

Like all the other members of the Northern Specials Range, these citric fruit-flavoured pop ups are incredibly effective at producing a bite when used on top of your chosen hookbait or when fished alone as a single hookbait. You get 45 x 12mm baits and 30 x 16mm baits per pot and they are available from the CC Moore website for £6.49 per pot. These superb Pop Ups are not only the fruitiest smelling pop ups I have ever used but they are also some of the most buoyant as well and should be a definite addition to your bait selection in 2011.

Northern Specials NS1 Wafters

CC Moore has worked along side Gareth Fareham to develop and test these baits through one of the toughest winters on record. This joint effort has produced these 12 x 16mm dumbell wafting hookbaits that are designed to waft around on the bottom, balanced under the weight of the hook/rig. They make the perfect option for those anglers trying to trick cautious and larger fish from pressured venues into taking a hookbait when conventional pop ups or bottom baits just don’t work because the zero buoyancy of the Wafter enables the hookbait to react more naturally in the presence of feeding fish.

There are currently three colours available in the Northern Special NS1 Wafter range; these are yellow, red and white. As with all the other members of the Northern Specials range you get the Gareth Fareham Booster liquid sachet to give these 12mm x 16mm dumbell hookbaits even more of an edge. Each pot of the Northern Special Wafters has 50 hookbait s inside and these are now available on line and sell for £6.49 per pot.

Northern Specials NS1 Booster Liquid

The Northern Specials Booster Liquid is exactly the same liquid you get in the sachets found in the NS1 Pop Ups and Wafters but it is now available in handy bottle form. This super-concentrated liquid is designed specifically to enhance all Northern Specials and alternative hookbaits but you should always be used in very small doses. It is described by CC Moore as “Combining concentrated appetite stimulants and carefully selected fruit flavours containing powerful active ingredients, Northern Specials Booster Liquid delivers a ‘zesty’ taste sensation to your baits which literally entices fish to feed in even the coldest water temperatures” and after using the NS1 for over a year now, I can truly say that they’re not lying.

Please Note: This liquid is highly concentrated and should be used sparingly.

UKMA recommend placing a small selection of baits in a glug tub; add a small quantity of the NS Booster liquid and shake until all baits have a small but noticeable coating. Then all you have to do is allowing the Booster to dry into your baits over night to create evenly coated, effectively boosted hook baits. This process can then be repeated as many times as required but it may affect the buoyancy and performance of your hookbaits if used excessively. The Northern Specials Booster Liquid is sold in 50ml bottles and sells for £10.99 per bottle; it may sound expensive but believe me it will last for ages if used correctly.

Northern Specials NS1 Enhancer Liquid

This is the one we’ve all been waiting for. The Northern Specials Enhancer  is designed for use when preparing pellets, particles, stick mixes, spod or method mixes that are to be fished in-conjunction with NS1 pop ups or wafters. The all round attraction potential of NS1 Enhancer Liquid cannot be overestimated and means it can be used at low levels throughout the year if a subtle approach is sought or at higher levels for the ‘instant-hit’ effect which is often required by anglers with more limited time on the bank.

CC Moore recommended dosage.
Pellets and Boilies: 20-30ml/kg
Stick/Method/Groundbait/Spod Mixes: 15-20ml/kg + water or other liquids.

This latest addition to the Northern Specials range now opens many avenues of approach and feeding options to the angler. You are no longer tied down to using the NS1 flavouring as purely a hookbait attractant, the Northern Specials Liquid Enhancer now makes it possible to create a food source to accompany your hookbaits, giving you greater scope and a higher catch potential. You get 250ml in a bottle for £10.99 and I personally can’t wait to get out and have a proper play with the stuff, well worth a look.
