CC Moore Northern Specials NS1
On The Bank Report

I’m a fond believer in the rule “try it for yourself before you make any final judgements” so to conclude the review on the CC Moore Northern Specials NS1. I took the NS1’s over to a local private lake to see how they would perform on a water that had produced many fish for me in the past up to 26lb 14oz using snowman rigs. I decided to make thing slightly more interesting by fishing an unknown area of the lake to myself, which proved to be full of weed and upon arrival on the bank, I found the water levels were down by a good 3 feet which was exceptionally low water level for the time of year. I had made things a little bit difficult for myself but I believe if a bait claims to works it should work in any conditions and any environment.

I decided to experiment and give my angling companion Richard Read, who joined me for a days sport on the Saturday, a sample of the NS1, 12mm Pop Ups in pink to try on his match fishing method feeder approach. Richard cast his rig to his baited area at about thirty yards out into open water and the results were instantaneous. Richard’s method ball was loaded with micro pellet and ground bait with the NS1 hair rigged and sitting partially buried on top, with a number 6 shot just above the hook to counter balance the buoyancy of the Pop Up. After only a matter of seconds in the water Richard rod tip wrapped round and he connected with a fine Common of around 9 – 10lb, job done.

I fished one of my two rods on a Snowman Rig, using the pink 12mm NS1 to hold the 14mm hook bait just on the deck, with my second rod on a single 16mm Pink NS1 to see which produced the most takes.

Over the next 36 hours on the bank I have to say that not only did the NS1’s perform more than admirably, landing 19 fish in total including ten doubles and five twenties.

I also made acquaintance with the lake record fish at 26lb on the nose, which is 1lb14oz under its best recorded weight but still a task that no other angler had been able to manage on the water this year.

Was it purely down to the Northern specials I will never know but I had an exceptional session in far from perfect conditions and to my knowledge had the lakes biggest haul this year.

Next phase of the testing took me to what is becoming one of my favourite venues, Waveney Valley C Lake at Wortwell in Norfolk.

On my previous visit to the venue I had witnessed two proper thirties nestled in other angler’s arms and I just knew if I got the margin swim I would most definitely come into contact with something very big.

So on the first night at around 8.50PM and after 51 nights out under the stars and after landing 97 twenty pound plus Carp up to 28lb 6oz from nine different venues. I finally land my first 30, a fat scaled mirror at 30lb on the dot. My first 30lb Carp on a NS1, 16mm Pink Pop Up.

As a very well known angler would say, who I do unfortunately resemble, “Come On!!!!!”

Final Thoughts

After using the NS1’s on two totally different venues and after using them for two totally different approaches, would I say that these exceptionally sweet and fruity Pop Ups have proved themselves to be a must have part of my or any other anglers bait artillery, well the answer is a very simple, “yes they have.” Every possible rig and presentation the UKMA team have used to test the NS1 has produced fish from upper singles on match style method feeder tactics, to fish of 30lb on a standard Pop Up Rig. I personally will carry the superb Northern Specials NS1 Pop Ups with me, when ever I visit water in search of big Carp.

UKMA highly recommend this product to any angler who loves catching carp
