Essential Baits are one of the most well known and established bait companies in Europe and have been producing specialist carp baits for over 25-years. The family based business is run by Mike Willmott, who has been writing about successful carp bait formulation for many years, including within the publication of his own book, Carp Life, which many have said includes the most comprehensive and informative bait chapter ever produced.

Mike and his company are particularly well known for producing high quality food baits aimed at those looking to have a distinctive edge over other anglers on the bank. Their awesome Shellfish B5 has proved testimony to this and has become legendary in carp bait folklore. In fact the B5 has possibly accounted for more big fish over the years than any other bait in history, yet still keeps producing the goods year after year. It is in every sense of the word a complete food source, whilst at the same time has a nice crunchy shell-like texture that is completely different to other baits.

The company also produce a range of other boilies including a couple of dedicated winter baits, namely the Creamseed and Cranberry Red. In 2009 they launched another winner, this being their Natural Squid range which is already proving extremely successful across the UK and Europe. A full range of matching pellets, pop-ups, dips, glugs, wafters, hookers and liquid foods are also available. The B5 and Natural Squid boilies are also available in shelf life for those who prefer to use a higher quality food bait for that foreign trip!
