Mistral Baits Specialist Carp Food

New Additions For 2011

With 2011 well and truly up and running, anglers are out and about looking for practical baiting solutions that are versatile, original and capable of enticing their chosen prey. Couple this with the recession that the whole world seems to be affected by, anglers are also looking for value for money with regards to their angling. A lot of anglers are tightening the purse strings with regards to buying bait and other items of tackle, and where as before they may have been bulk buying bait and stocking freezers, many anglers today are looking at buying much smaller amounts of bait and turning off their bait freezers (to save electricity) and turning to shelf life alternatives. With this in mind Mistral Baits have increased their Specialist Carp Food range of baits with three new flavours for 2011.

The Specialist Carp Food range have been developed to offer value for money to the angler and will appeal to the session angler that wishes to carry a "change bait" with them as well as the angler that may fish once or twice a year and doesn't want to spend a lot of money on bait that they may not use all of. The Specialist Carp Food range have also been taken onboard by the younger angler that doesn't get a lot of pocket money or that their parents have had to hold back on the amount of money they can give "Little Johnny" to go fishing with.

The new baits in the Specialist Carp Food range are Chocolate Orange, Fish Bomb and Crab & Crawfish. As the names suggest the Chocolate Orange and Crab & Crawfish have an aroma of of the given titles, but the Fish Bomb is the bait that a lot of anglers will turn to as it is made up of at least 6 different flavoured baits mixed together into one bag - essentially a "Pick n Mix" of baits. The Fish Bomb baits when applied correctly can keep the fish rooting around the baited area without spooking due to the different baits spread across the chosen area. On some waters, piles of the same bait can be the "kiss of death" as the fish have come to realise that they have been placed there by anglers. With a mixture of different baits, the fish cannot pick out which one is going to be the danger. It also gives the angler the choice of colours for the hookbait.

The Chocolate Orange is the most pleasant to the nose, and has a more orange aroma than chocolate, but the chocolate can be faintly picked out by the nose. The Crab & Crawfish was bought back to the range after European anglers requested it, and will be a firm favourite for those that prefer a fish or savoury bait.

The base mixes used to create the Specialist Carp Food offer a balanced nutritional profile so that they are beneficial to the fish. Mistral Baits pride themselves on not using semolina or other low grade bulking agents in their baits and the angler can have complete faith in that they are not putting their quarry at risk.

The Specialist Carp Food boilies are available in 350g bags priced at £3.99, matching popups at £3.99 a tub and also a booster dip in 150ml bottles priced at £4.25. Both the boilies and popups are in one size of 15mm.

Final Thoughts

We can honestly say that most of the team here at UKMA will have at least one bag of these baits in our bait buckets during our trips as an alternative bait to our chosen long term baits. Whilst on the bank, other anglers have asked us why we have a single small bag of baits with us along with the other bait, and once it has been explained to them the logic behind the inclusion, not one person has disagreed. All we can say is to give it a go, and for less than a packet of cigarettes or the price of a beer in a club, you cannot go wrong.
