With angling media primarily being paper based with what it seems to be an ever increasing number of carp angling magazines filling out the racks in newsagents across the country, it is difficult to come up with something that is totally different to everything else.

Five years or so ago, CarpTV was born. With more and more anglers watching angling DVD's, it made perfect sense to have audio visual product reviews, interviews with top anglers and other features.

When first launched, CarpTV could be found in a few tackle shops dotted around the country, and unless you frequented the shops that stocked the DVD at the time, it was mainly unheard of amongst the anglers.

3 years ago, CarpTV decided it was time to go mainstream and managed to secure space on the shelves of the major newsagents such as WH Smith's. Joe Morgan was bought onboard to take over presenter duties from Nigel Botherway and as such, injected life into each months edition in his own inimitable way.

Over the last 3 years that CarpTV has been on the shelves of the newsagents, the following has grown steadily and with different anglers each month in the different sections, it is not the same thing being repeated time & time again.

UKMA have been supporters of the independent carp angling media for many years now and each month look forward to seeing what is new on the DVD's. Anglers may think that producing a 2 hour DVD is an easy task, but we can tell you from first hand experience that editing several hours of raw video footage in to a 15 minute video clip takes much longer than it takes to write up a two thousand word article with several pictures. The amount of work that goes into ensuring that the DVD is ready on deadline day deserves respect alone.

If you struggle to find CarpTV on the shelves of your local newsagents, CarpTV offer some of the best subscription deals in the angling media. Previous subscription deals have included a selection of Dynamite Baits boilies along with a selection of Nash terminal tackle for simply the cost of postage when a 12 month subscription is taken out. Currently at time of writing this article, the subscription offer is just under £70 worth of Korda terminal tackle including the new MouthTrap chod material for £6 postage on top of the £60 susbcription.

We cannot recommend that you check out CarpTV enough if you haven't already done so. It is a total breath of fresh air that was injected into a world that was becoming a little stale in the traditional paper based world.

Where can CarpTV take it to next? I for one would love to see a High Definition version available on Blu-Ray each month, but that would create double the amount of work for the team. Maybe thought for the future though?

CarpTV have agreed with UKMA that we can give our visitors a brief insight into what is coming up in the DVD a couple of days before CarpTV hits the shelves, so keep an eye out on the homepage of the Carp section for this information towards the end of each calendar month.
