All you ever wanted to know about
Advanced Technology Tackle
(but were afraid to ask)
Over recent years there have been few companies in the UK who have been able to get there foot in the doors of specialist anglers and take a slice of the very lucrative bite alarm market place. With established brands such as Delkim and Fox pretty much having the market taking to themselves for some time, gaining favour and a chunk of this closed market place for any company was going to be hard work to say the least. Then back in 2003 a little acorn was planted when the Essex based duo of Tom Wright and Darren Henwood formed Advanced Technology Tackle. They combined there technical skills and life long passions for angling to develop and release top quality technically advanced bite indication equipment.
ATT noticed a gap in the market for a universal remote system and in 2004 they released the ATTx V1. This compact and very versatile system used new technology that was years ahead of anything available to the angler at that time and soon built a very solid reputation for the company. Tom and Darren worked behind the scenes to improve this already trust worthy universal remote system and finally after three years they released the ATTx V2 universal remote system to critical acclaim from the angling media and anglers alike. Then in 2009 the ATTs alarm unit was released and these top quality cost effective alarms took the angling world by storm with sales hitting over forty thousand and demand all over Europe growing, ATT were here to stay.
As the company expanded so did the work load and the directors Tom and Darren decided to enlist the skills of Rob Fielding who had been a consultant with the company for 2 years. Rob’s duties include dealing with the marketing side of the business, including dealing with the angling media, organising and planning the endless angling shows that they exhibit at both in the United Kingdom and in Europe, plus organising the army of top names sponsored anglers. So he is kept quite busy at the best of times but when things are really busy in the factory he also gets involved in the production and distribution side of things, so he’s quite a busy chap. Rob's introduction completes this team who are making big waves within the angling trade.
Right you have the full company history and a very impressive one it is too, but who are these guys? Drawing attention to the company and the advertising side of things. Also I’ve created a team of consultants in the UK and in Europe, I’m in contact with them all daily, Creating media through them for the company.
Where do you see ATT as a company in 5 years time - I feel we are a different entity to any other company, our aim is to bring products to everyday anglers at a price that is always affordable. We want to bring a large range of Innovative products that will not clash with any other existing products in our range. We basically bring a product to life and give it a long life in the market. We like to bring something out and keep it out, We basically like to build and add accessories to compliment our range. We build so it lasts, at the end of the day we are anglers too.
On The Bank
As we previously mentioned, UKMA met up with the team on the bank and with all parties being of a sociable nature, we thought "lets have a BBQ and a beer" so we can really find out what makes this company so successful. So we all brought our rods in and set fire to some coals and proceeded have a beer or two. After some food and a few beers, one or two stories were told about escapades and situations that the team got into whilst touring the European angling show circuit.
Important Notice - As the UKMA website is open to anglers of all ages, I feel it only appropriate that this information should not be made public but if you pay £15 into my PayPal account and send me your full contact details. We will send you the full unpublished stories with digital images and video. (Only joking boys)
To create any successful team you have to create great team spirit and ATT have this in abundance. Over the past 12 months Tom, Darren Rob and numerous other well known members of the team (who shall remain nameless) have developed a more than deserved reputation amongst fellow exhibitors at the numerous angling shows they have attended all over Europe for lets say “enjoying life to the maximum ”. We have heard stories of there sterling work in hunting out the finest wines in Europe by taking part in wine tastings that have been known to last all night in there unselfish attempts to find the best wines available. Let’s face it how many times have you brought a bottle of wine that tastes like bad vinegar, because of the ATT team this is something that will possibly never again.
There tireless work doesn’t stop there, the ATT team’s un-rivalled and charitable support for the many poverty stricken small South American distilleries who were struggling to make ends meet until Team ATT found out about there plight. In fact the ATT team have worked so hard over the past year supporting these numerous poverty stricken communities in South America countries that they now proudly display the letters of thanks from both the Mexican and Puerto Rican Governments for the sterling work in helping to massively reduce their countries national debts. (Good effort lads)
Without question their greatest achievement is to assist a troupe of burlesque dancers after a bad show. The Dance troupes morale was at an all time low but charitable fellows that they are, the lads sat in the hotel bar most of the night being entertained and applauding their every move, helping to restoring the girls confidence. God bless them!!
FOOT NOTE
That’s all I could publish but you get the general idea, the team of lads at Advanced Technology Tackle work hard and definitely play hard but they do it in a way that great fun to be around and non offensive(cough!!). They carry the ATT company banner with great pride and a professional attitude has made this small and progressive company one of the shinning stars of the tackle industry in 2011. With a new website and new products about to be launched Advanced Technology Tackle have made a big name for themselves based on quality of product at affordable prices and long may it last.
