R.I.P The Dustbin

Gaaz Fareham with The Dustbin from Yateley's Car Park Lake

Word has just arrived announcing the death of the Dustbin from the Car Park Lake on the CEMEX angling complex near Yateley in Surrey. The death of the Dustbin signifies the loss of yet another big part off our carp angling heritage. This death leaves only the Big Orange, Little Orange and Arfur still left from the original stock that used to reside in this prestigious and historic water.

UKMA spoke to Nigel Sharp and got his thoughts on the huge loss to the carp fishing world, he told us; “Like everyone else involved with the Car Park Lake over the years, I’m truly gutted to hear of the loss of this very special fish that eluded me for so many years. I can honestly say the closest I ever came to catching the Dustbin was off the top, but this was nothing but a near miss, this marks the end of another era in carp fishing”

Over the past two years the world of carp fishing in the United Kingdom has had to mourn the loss of some of its biggest and best known fish including the country's biggest common, Benson and the Creature from Bluebell Lakes in 2009. Then in 2010 the carp world was rocked again with the loss of Two Tone, The Black Mirror and another resident of the Car Park Lake, Heather the Leather.

UKMA will keep you up to date as information about the death of yet another Car Park Lake legend becomes available.
