Nash Announce Carp Fishing Apprentice

Nash, the carp brand known for their innovative tackle, have just announced a different form of innovation - the forming of a carp apprenticeship scheme.

The carp world's first apprentice has been signed up - Jack Brown of Leighton Buzzard, aged 19. His apprenticeship will run over five years whereby he will be set yearly modules and achievement targets. At the end of the apprenticeship period, should he pass with flying colours, he will be offered a full consultancy deal with Nash with income streams that amount to him being able to make a full time living out of carp fishing alone.

Kevin Nash commented - "I am hugely committed to putting something back into the sport that has been so kind to me and has given me a life that is the dream of many youngsters. We have several ideas that we are working on to help youngsters in these challenging times, which will be announced as and when they come to fruition. With regards to the carp apprenticeship concept I receive quite literally hundreds of e-mails each year from kids enquiring how they can make a living from carp fishing. It struck me in replying that I couldn't give them a clear answer or a firm approach to take to achieve their dreams. When I was a teenager I started working life as an engineering apprentice. Sadly, apprenticeships are dying out but it struck me that such a scheme would be perfect to guide and educate a youngster to achieve. Jack Brown makes history as our first student. He was chosen because he is a great lad and an exceptional young talent, whom I believe will tick all the boxes.”

Jack will be mentored by Kevin and other members of the Nash Team of consultants so that he achieves excellence in all the various disciplines of not only fishing, but also article writing and DVD appearances.

Jack told us – “It is a privilege and an honour to be chosen by Kevin Nash as the first young angler to take part in the apprenticeship scheme. When Myself, Kevin and Alan sat down to discuss the apprenticeship I was more than enthusiastic to be involved, taking me seconds to make my decision. Nash is a driven and passionate company with a brilliant young team within it, I'm overjoyed to be mentored closely by Kevin, an angling inspiration of mine, his knowledge will be greatly appreciated. With the help of Kevin, Alan Blair and the rest of the team I cant wait to get started and look forward to the challenges ahead, with hopefully a few big kippers caught along the way.”

We will eagerly watch Jack's progress with interest and are sure that with Kevin Nash’s backing we will be hearing much on Jack's exploits in the future.
