New Grenville 40 for Quest Baits Boss

We have been informed of a new forty pound carp for mega-venue, Grenville Lake in Cambridgeshire. Quest Baits boss, Shaun Harrison was the captor, and he has kindly told his story to UKMA which can be read below;

"I had a little bit of a premonition this last week-end. I was working away in my office intending to drive over to Grenville in the evening when I suddenly got the overwhelming desire to be there much sooner. I can’t really explain it as I always want to be there anyway but this time I simply knew I had to be there and promptly closed my office up, transferred the direct line to my mobile and guiltily started the 90 mile drive to Grenville. Silly really, I felt like a guilty schoolboy bunking off school."

"The rain was really hammering it by the time I arrived at the cabin and a quick look on the board where the other anglers were pitched up left me in little doubt where I wanted to be – right out of the way of the other lines."

"I got very wet setting up and even wetter baiting up. A few kilo’s of mixed boilies went out over a nice wide area with the Spomb. These consisted of different sizes of Quest Baits Chilli Chocolate, Ghurkka Spice, Fruity Trifle and Salmonberry."

"A quick change of clothing and kettle on, only I didn’t get chance to light the kettle before the ATTS sang its sweet song. The Hi ‘S’ive bent around to a very satisfying curve then pulled down even more as the line started to leave the spool at a very impressive rate. The P-Line held, the combi rig held and the Ashima hook held as they all have so many times for me in the past."

"A cracking scrap ensued before the fish was finally coaxed over the net. The weight was 40lb 2oz which was then confirmed exactly the same on the Official Grenville scales. This is a totally new 40 for Grenville adding to the rather impressive list of big fish in there."

"I looked at my watch and the time indicated that I would still have been driving to the lake had I left my office when I had originally intended, so I guess that fish was simply meant to be."

"My luck was also still in as I followed this fish up with others weighing 33lb 12oz, 22lb and a couple of doubles. A most pleasing week-end indeed on what turned out to be the busiest week-end (angler wise) I have ever known on Grenville. "

"Oh yes, a special thank you to Stu Adair and Andy Hanahoe for such a marvellous BBQ on the Saturday night."
