Young Angler gains sponsorship from Redeye Baits

14 year old Robbie Briers from Chadderton, Manchester, has been a regular in Clint Walker's Carp Talk magazine NW report for a number of months now, catching burly specimens from a variety of fisheries including Four Seasons, Pilsworth and Eisteddfa; all of which can be notoriously difficult on their day. Robbie’s consistency and applied knowledge have resulted in a number of personal bests this year, culminating in a visit to Blackpool venue Four Seasons Fishery where Robbie netted a fish of 25lbs 7oz!

It’s not just Clint who has noticed the rise of this up and coming young star either; Bury based bait boss Karl Worthington of Redeye baits (www.redeyebaits.co.uk) got in touch to offer sponsorship and advice in an attempt to give Robbie the opportunity to use his skills in the forthcoming British Young Carp Anglers Championship 2012 to see if he really has what it takes to succeed in the tough world of angling media, working to deadlines and under pressure to catch fish!?

So far, the signs are encouraging for Robbie; his writing skills are exceptional for a youngster, comprehensive reports explaining exactly how he catches AND why he chooses his methods are regularly appearing in Clint's inbox along with great pictures to support his tales. To be noticed so early is unusual; it’s something that almost every carper dreams of, but with little understanding of the effort required to be sponsored and, more importantly, to maintain it!
