New PB for Young Robbie

Robbie Briers, a 14 year old angler sponsored by Redeye Baits, has caught his PB common carp on a 24 hour session on the Four Seasons Fishery (Blackpool) on the 28th   of December. This great looking fish was caught using a Tuna & Robin Red 14mm wafter on an 8 inch blowback rig. After speaking to the bailiff the bailiff told him it was the first carp to be taken from the Lodge Lake in 4 weeks.

Robbie gave UKMA the following details about the capture;

"I arrived at Four Seasons at around 12 o'clock on Wednesday, the wind was absolutely smashing into the peg 4 bay at an alarming rate and it would have been silly of me not to drop in there. So I have flicked two rigs out and hope for some luck, still nothing so at 4 o'clock I re-chucked my rods. Nothing came until 5 o'clock the next morning when I had a jittery take on my left hand rod. The fish just started nodding its head and swimming up the bank. After a fairly uneventful fight I rather large dark common rolls into the net! A bailiff latter told me that the Lodge Lake hasn’t produced a fish for 4 weeks."

"I was more than happy, I left the fish in the net until it got light, me and my mate Sam was drinking a cup of tea discussing all things carp. When it eventually got light, I hoisted the fish out of the water and onto the mat, I realised that the fish was a touch bigger than I thought. On the scales it went 25lb 5oz, my PB common. Well happy, I lifted her up for the camera then slipped it back. Nothing else came after that fish, not a bad overnight session. The fish was caught on a 3ft Kable Leadcore Leader and a 2oz flat pear lead on a hybrid lead clip. Then an 8 inch n-trap hooklink down to a size 8 sharpened wide gape blowback style. A half inch hair followed by a Tuna & Robin Red wafter from Redeye Baits completed the set up. I finished my traps by placed a pva bag of crumb and wrapping the hookbaits in boilies paste."
