Darren's Campaign Springs To Life

UKMA team member, Darren Wilson has got his campaign off to a flying start with the capture of two fish from the small water he is targetting for this year.

On a 36 hour session, his first of the year on the venue , whilst testing products out for review on the UKMatchAngler.com website, two of the inhabitants at Spring Pools Specimen Lake near Rugby, Warwickshire fell to Darren's hand rolled 18mm CC Moore Live System corkball popups within the first 5 hours of the session. Successful tactics were running chod rigs on 48" of leadcore over 150 x 10mm Live System boilies.

The first fish called "The Ghostie" (below left) picked up the hookbait after half an hour, and pulled the scales down to 19lb 10oz, and the second fish called "The Dumpy Mirror" (below right) fell 4 hours later at a weight of 21lb 5oz.

Spring Pools Specimen Lake has only produced 3 other fish since September 2010. The Specimen Lake is home to approximately 30 Carp from 16lb through to mid-30's, and are notoriously cagey with 20 fish in total for the year meaning it has fished well.
