First 2011 Waveney Carp Falls To Dynamite

After what can only be described as a terrible December for carp fishing, early January gave Toby Long a welcome start to the year. Fishing on the Waveney Valley complex, he found one corner of a lake free of ice so set about setting up his carp tackle for the first time in a month!

Toby chose to feed a few Chocolate Malt & Tiger Nut 15mm boilies. And soon after he cast out his favoured running chod rig baited with a 15mm Coconut Cream Fluro pop-up. The light scattering of boilies would serve to attract the carp into the swim without feeding them too much, then the bright white hook bait would stand out like a beacon to any inquisitive carp and would hopefully result in a take.

Only a few hours after arriving at the venue, Toby heard the unmissable sounds of a bite alarm signalling a take, his feeding ploy had worked magically. Playing the carp gingerly due to small sheets of ice still floating around, the carp soon surfaced and Toby slid the net under a low double-figure carp, the first out of Waveney in 2011.
