Multi Grip IQ Backleads

(First Impressions)

For some years now, clip on Backleads have been widely accepted as one of the best way of ensuring that your reel line stays pinned down on the lake bed to assist in the concealment of your rig and in windy conditions help eliminate line tow. The one major problem with this type of lead is that most that are currently available are designed to fall off when you strike into a fish or when they become snagged up, which is OK when fishing on a weed choked or snaggy venue but when the lake is snag free and has a relatively flat featureless bottom. Then this is a waste of a piece of re-usable tackle especially when you are only retrieving your rig for a re-cast or re-baiting. So what is needed is a Backlead that can be adjusted to suit all types of lake situations and only come off when totally necessary, introducing the Multi Grip IQ Backleads from Derbyshire based specialist tackle manufacturers 30Plus.

The Multi Grip IQ is a free running Backlead system that has been designed to allow you to set up to your exact personal requirements. With a little trial and error you can establish exactly how far to push the two plastic tapered pins on the base of the line guide into the flat based conical weight. By pushing the two pin into the base weight fully, this will make the Backlead hold firm and stay on the line even when playing fish but as soon as it becomes snagged it will instantly release. UKMA recommend that when fishing in densely weeded venues simply push the two pins on the line guide into the lead until they just start to grip. This will make the Multi Grip IQ Backleads instantly release and fall off guaranteeing that you won’t have any unnecessary terminal tackle that could become snagged or trapped in weed or other underwater debris reducing the potential of fish loss.

First Impressions

The new Multi Grip IQ Backleads from 30Plus offer an all round practicality and versatility that many other Backleads currently available simply don’t offer anglers. They can be used with total confidence on any type of venue and with the simplest of adjustment they will eject from your reel line or stay in place, pretty much they do what you tell them to do. There are two different options currently available, you have the 10g option that sells for £2.99 and is ideal for all short to medium range situations and the second option is the 20g size that sells for £3.49 and is better suited to medium to long range angling. The Multi Grip IQ Backleads from 30 Plus are sold in packs of three and on first impressions look well up to the job they are designed to do but UKMA don’t leave anything to chance and over the coming months we’ll be putting them to the test out on the bank, so watch this space.
