Atomic Tackle Detecta Marker Floats

RRP £5.50

Atomic Tackle have been slowly, but surely, building up a range of terminal tackle and accessories that have started to really impress the crew here at UKMA. When Simon Healy and his team design new products for this now very comprehensive range, they look at the downsides of existing ranges and correct them. Not exactly rocket science but they seem to have got the formula just right with the company’s growth over the past three years speaking volumes.

One of the latest additions to the range is the company’s newest solution to feature finding, the Detecta Marker Floats. This, the first generation of markers floats to be released Atomic Tackle have been manufactured using high quality Ethylene Vinyl Acetate compounds (also known as EVA). This material makes the Detecta Marker floats super buoyant allowing them to surface far quicker, giving you the information required to find those target spots every time.

UKMA asked Simon, “What made him finally decide to use EVA over conventional Balsa or Plastics that are commonly used in the production of marker float?” .

Simon replied “EVA is the best suited material we could find to gives the Detecta Marker Float the element of flexibility we were looking for. This allows the float to bend in flight, where as similar shaped, rigid balsa wood ones tend to eventually snap due to the extreme forces marker floats are put under whilst they are being cast”.

There are currently three colours available in the Detecta Marker Float range; you have Flouro Orange, Lime Green and Black with White Stripes which gives you the option of changing colour to cover any weather or light conditions. The Detecta Sight flights have been permanently fixed into the floats body to ensure you don’t loose them during casting; I have personally had the problem of interchangeable Sight flights unscrewing when casting into a head on wind.

Final Thoughts
Atomic Tackle has spent a lot of time and effort to make a marker float that is both buoyant and extremely durable. They have rectified those little annoying faults found on many marker floats that are currently available, the Sight Flights simply don’t come out of the body, I have tried to pull them out and they don’t budge an inch. All in all, the Detecta Marker Floats are well made and very buoyant, what more do you want from a marker float.
