ATT The Cube

RRP: £24.99

With anglers now using remote receivers more than ever before, one of the problems that they face is dropping the receiver in the water and then watching it sink slowly down the marginal shelf into deep water. Even if the receiver is retrieved, in the vast percentage of cases, it doesn't work again due to water damage. With this in mind, the clever guys at ATT, developed what they feel is the utimate protection for their receivers and will make both water damage and loss of the receiver to the depths, a thing of the past. Enter The Cube!

The Cube is a transparant high impact polycarbonate case that encases the ATT Receiver perfectly. The flip top lid has a very securely locking clip mechanism that ensures that it will not simply come open when not required. The lid fits snugly to the main body and creates a waterproof seal. This means that if the Cube is dropped accidentally into the water, it will float and water will not enter the main compartment. On the reverse of the Cube is a removable belt clip which gives enough grip even on a pocket so that the receiver will not just fall off through moderate movement on the bank. On the front of the Cube, you can see a silver circle which allows the sound from the receiver to travel out of the Cube but also stops water from entering.

Obviously we put the above to the test and on ATT's word, dropped the receiver into the margins of a lake. Upon entering the water, the Cube instantly popped straight back to the surface where it could be retrieved by hand. On opening the top cover and inspecting the receiver, there was no hint of dampness at all.

The base of the Cube is flat so a seperate stand is not required to sit the receiver upright on a bivvy table or bucket lid.

Final Thoughts

The Cube does exactly as it has been designed to do. It protects the ATT receiver from water damage and loss if dropped in the venue, it stands upright on a flat surface and also allows the angler to clip it to their belt or pocket. ATT may be taking money away from themeselves in sales of their leather pouches or stands for the reciever, as well as replacement receivers from anglers who have dropped their's into the venue, but it is good to see a company that is looking after the anglers investment rather than to profit from unfortunate acidents.

One final important thing that has to be pointed out is that the Cube is not designed to be held under water, as they have not been pressure tested or designed for that situation.

The Cube retails at £24.99, which may sound steep for a plastic case, but I would rather spend £25 than £97 on a replacement receiver and also have to spend the rest of a session without a remote system or cut it short.
