UKMA Best Carp Tackle of 2010

With out question the busiest section of the UKMA group of websites, so finding an individual item to name as the best Carp product of 2010 is a daunting task. With over 280 bait items, terminal tackle components, miscellaneous luggage products plus rods and bivvy’s tested in 2010 by the UKCA team, we simply can’t give the thumbs up to any individual product without leaving out numerous others in all categories out of the equation. So rather than giving my own individual choice I have had input from all members of the team to establish a far perspective of what’s what in 2010.

Terminal Tackle

During 2010 the terminal market place went bang with literally scores of small independent companies launching their own twist on terminal tackle items. However the usual big gun along with a couple of up and coming companies stole the show. The highlights from the terminal tackle year included the Korda Mouth Trap hook Link Material, Atomic Tackles super sharp Chodda Hooks, the already established Nash Diffusion Camo rig components still doing the business but if one individual item was to steal the show it would have to be the superb Thinking Anglers Chod Swivels, with the awesome Kryston Jackal coated braid also making many friends.

Freezer Baits

We have selected five different baits to consider in 2011, simply because they will catch fish all year round. Kent base Premier Baits start us of with the awesome The Quad, a proven big fish bait with a track record better than Linford Christie. One of the biggest selling new bait in the country has to be the New Grange from Mainline but not to be out done Nash Baits IC-1 is also emptying venues all over the country and caught our team some fantastic fish. One of the best kept secrets on the Nene Valley is the I-40 from Mistral Baits, with the CC Moore Live System (review coming very soon) also putting in a shift accounting for numerous big fish in 2010.

Miscellaneous Items

This covers the more expensive and individual products essential to modern day carp angler. I have to say that the one range of Luggage that has taken its place in most of the teams shed this year is the Cotswold Aquarius range, Manufactured in the United Kingdom this is without question the best luggage I have ever used and reviewed and a must for the angler who likes his kit to last. The outstanding value for money shelters to reach our offices this year included the Chub S-Plus shelter with Overwrap, the Nash Tackle Brolly Dome and Overwrap which is a superb entry level all season shelter that would suit angler of all levels.

A couple of relatively new comers to the world of carp stole the show for UKMA in 2010. First up is the Jack Pyke of England clothing ranges, this superbly manufactured clothing offer superb protection from the elements as well as giving an angler a stealth clothing option due to the silent material that the clothing is made from. Last up is the product that in the opinion of UKMA excelled and if one item of Carp tackle was to steal the plaudits in this section it would have to be the Advanced Carp Equipment I-3 Alarms and Receiver, these superb Alarms are absolutely flawless in design and functionality and haven’t let me down, indication technology to the Max (excusing the pun).

Foot Note

All the products listed above have been tried and tested by the UKMA team and have been selected from the products in each category that we have reviewed. You may have other opinions but unless UKMA have reviewed a particular piece of tackle it will not feature in our best of products 2010 listings.
