Company Profile

Joe Morgan - Media & Marketing Manager

UKMA: Can you explain briefly how you got into angling?

Joe Morgan (JM): I actually asked my Dad to take me fishing when I was about four. I was always intrigued when I saw someone sitting by the river bank!
My Dad and his mate took me to Snake Pit and we caught loads of nice roach and perch. After that I was hooked, I spent most of my younger years exploring ponds, rivers and streams for all kinds of fish before stumbling across a Carp lake. It was a small sand pit known as The Garrison, It was here that I discovered the world of Carp fishing and some of the characters from the local scene. I would often get them there milk and papers from the shops in return for them letting me sit down there pestering them or float fishing for roach and perch.

When I was about 12, the older anglers sorted me out with some of their unused carp gear and took me over Layer Pits to teach me the ropes…a few years later I was getting amongst those mystical creatures from the Garrison lake myself. The rest as they say, is history!

UKMA: How did you start in the angling trade?

JM: I’d worked in a couple of tackle shops before leaving school and ended up working in one full time after quitting my design course at college just six months into it…I was a lazy little bugger! The next year I went to work as a bailiff at the famous Dream Lakes complex in France, that was a great experience, meeting some brilliant characters and obviously I got  a fair bit of angling in too!!
After Dream lakes I started working for Korda; my old Mucka Damian larke who I’d been working at he tackle shop with basically created a position there for me! After five fond years there I got involved with Carp-TV which is where I’ve been the last two years.

UKMA: What made you decide to start your own business within the angling industry?

JM: It’s not actually my business but I’m obviously quite a large part of Carp-TV, in fact other than the filming and editing I pretty much do the lot!
The reason Nik started the company was basically as he saw a huge gap in the market and lets face it what a brilliant idea it was! We’ve certainly got some of the mags flapping!

UKMA: How long has the company been running?

JM: The company has only been going three years, in fact the latest one is the 3rd birthday issue!

UKMA: How do you see the future with regards to company expansion over the forthcoming years?

JM: Carp-TV is going from strength to strength, we are continuously receiving fantastic feedback so we will strive to keep the content fresh, forever coming up with new feature ideas. We try to include a nice cross section of information, education and entertainment so that it appeals to all levels of carp angler.

As far as expansion goes, like any growing company we will have to take on more staff to be able to keep up with everything and keep the ship running as tightly as it is at the moment!

The future is bright…the future is Carp-TV!
