The Chub reel protectors are something that a lot of anglers may be aware of, but have been reluctant to use over a fully padded holdall or individual sleeves.

The Chub protectors have been designed to fit all sizes of reels used in todays carp and specialist angling, from the small 4000 sized reels all the way up to the biggest big pits. Measuring a more than ample size of 560mm x 300mm, full coverage is guaranteed with the biggest reels and full cork/duplon handles.

The padded material simply wraps around the reel and rod sections (when broken down) and is secured snugly by means of two velcro straps. Chub have thought about the length of the velcro straps so that even if small reels are used, the wraps will not be hanging loose.

The padding on the material has also not been scrimped on, nor has it been over done to make everything cumbersome, so those expensive Basia or Technium spools will be protected fully.

On the upper edge of the wraps, Chub have fitted a quick release buckle strap that allows the angler to connect all the rods together in transit to lessen the chances of rods knocking against each other or flapping around when used with basic quiver systems or simple rod straps.

We also found that during the time on the bank with them, we went through a stage of other uses that the reel wraps had potential for when not protecting the reels, and these included a gas bottle "cosy" to insulate the gas cannisters on winter days or cold nights, as well as a place to store tip & butt protectors so they don't get lost when on the bank (every carp angler knows how annoying this is when packing away to find that a tip protector is missing).

We have always said that you cannot put a price on protecting expensive items of tackle, but Chub have come up with the goods without wanting the angler to break the bank. We feel that every angler should have a set of these, and at the price, you would be mad not to!
