Rod Mat

With the top end reels and rods now costing about the same as the van you visit the lake in, all possible effort must be made to ensure these highly expensive pieces of kit are well taken care of when out on the bank. One of the biggest issues we all have to deal with is the prevention of mud and grit getting on our spools and into the reels when it is pouring down with rain. One very simple solution is the use of a splash or rod mat. They sit directly underneath your rods and reels and pretty much eliminate any chance of harmful debris and dirt coming in contact with your tackle.

One of the more exclusive offerings out there is the Rod Mat from custom tackle manufacturers Dymag Tackle. This simple but effective mat is designed to accommodate all single stick buzz bar and adjustable goal post set ups. At either end you have five (5) bankstick eyelets that can only be used with bankstick with an external diameter of 16mm or less. The underside of the Rod Mat is made from a washable vinyl material with the upper face utilising a hard wearing green canvas.

The Rod Mat can be used in numerous arrangements. The centre eyelet at either end is perfect for all single stick buzz bar set ups whilst the second eye from either side are ideal for a two rod single stick set up. You can use the matt for a three rod single stick arrangement but you may need to fold your handles flat for a comfortable and accessible set up, this is dependant on your personal choice of reels. If you have an adjustable goalpost set up the mat will also serve your need amicably.

TOP TIP - The Rod Matt comes into its own when slack lining, giving you the perfect surface to lay your indicators and line on, eliminating any risk of them getting snagged on grass or debris.
