Removing the Rod from it’s clearly labelled home I was instantly impressed by the looks of the Carp Tamer ‘X’ Wraps. Being manufactured from the clever use of 36t & 32t carbons has enabled the production of a blank that is ultra slim and well balanced but still has enough power to handle the pressures of casting 3oz plus over 140yds and the finesse to play big fish on the lightest of tackle.
As with all Free Spirit rods no corners have been cut to reduce the pleasure of using your chosen tool. The distinctive cross-weave matt finished blank has been selectively complimented by the addition of top quality fixtures. The Fuji DPS reel seat is not only a solid home for your chosen reel but I found it very comfortable whilst both casting and playing fish. To finish the job off, Free Spirit have added the S-Lite T guides to produce a rod that performs well over its price tag After many hours of silence from the bite alarm supporting the Carp Tamer X Wrap, a one tone scream came from my receiver, Fish on!! as I engaged the clutch on the reel, to bring the charging lump at the other end under control. The rod immediately Produced a silky smooth curve in the direction of now heavy chug at the other end, not a soft action by any means but one that controlled the fight at all times. Having put the Carp Tamer ‘X’ Wrap 2.75tc 12ft through its paces for over 100 hours now I can honestly say I’m very impressed by both it’s performance and quality of manufacture. I have used numerous rods in the £100 - £150 price category and found the Carp tamer will hold it’s own with many rods that are far more expensive. I personally would recommend that you have a very long hard look at these rods before you spend your hard earned cash on anything else, they are that good!!

Free Spirit Fishing
The mellow tip action controlling every lung the carp made which was being backed up by a smooth but powerful mid section. Once I had the fish fully under control and under the rod tip my insecurities about any chance of a hook pull were put to bed. When ever the carp made a dive for freedom the rod simply responded to the job in hand. At no point did I feel it necessary to reduce the pressure I had on the size 10 hook holding my quarry at the other end. After only a few minutes a 26lb 1oz Mirror was in the landing net and on the bank, job done!!
