ATTs Silent Alarms and Receivers

ATTs Silent Alarms & Receivers

ATTs Silent Alarms RRP £69.95

ATTx V2 Receiver RRP £99.99

Over the past couple of years the chances of anything original in the already swamped Remote Electronic Bite Alarm market place becoming available to the established carp angler has become slim to say the least. Then earlier this year I got wind of the New ATTs Silent Alarm System & V2 ATTx Receiver, distributed by Gardner Tackle. After a few calls to Gardner’s marketing guru Lewis Read, I made the decision to get my hands on a set and put them through there paces.

The ATTs alarms are without question the smallest alarms I have ever used, this has been made possible by getting rid of a few of the usual features found on you standard alarm. Upon removing the Protective hard cover my first question was “ where is the on /off switch?? The answer was that those clever lads at Advanced Technology Tackle Darren Henwood and Tom Wright, have designed a simple magnetic system in the Protective Cover which automatically turns the alarm of once it is in place and activates it again once removed, and for the forgetful anglers like myself who constantly forget and leave alarms turned on, this is a god send.

The next major feature change from a standard alarm is the obvious absence of a speaker, “ah ha” ATTs silent alarm. The alarms transmitter send a signal to the V2 receiver speaker which beeps or vibrates where ever you are and not at the waters edge, which could possibly spook cautious fish that may be in your swim. May I be one of the first to congratulate ATT for this development, I for one feel there is nothing worse than jumping out of bed a 3.00AM, to find the Kings Head Public house in the next peg resetting his alarms, with the volume set to full blast and waking up the whole lake, with this system the only sound anyone should here will be you netting you fish.

ATTs Silent Alarm Features ATTs Receiver

  • Water tight: Your ATTs is a sealed watertight unit and should not suffer from water ingress on even the wettest session.
  • Intelligent bite indication: The intelligent roller wheel system will eliminate any false activation, a common issue with other brands of alarm.
  • Low battery warning: Upon the ATTs battery dropping below 4.5 volts the ATTs will wake up and send a low battery warning signal to the channel on your ATTx V2 receiver that it is programmed into, this will be 5 fast beeps then pause that will be repeated 5 times. The battery voltage will also be checked every time your wheel turns, although you may still use your ATTs for hours before the battery will be completely dead.
  • Built in high power transmitter: The ATTs is equipped with a high power transmitter that relays the bite detection signal to your ATTx V2 receiver ensuring there is no disturbance in your swim.
  • Super bright LED visual indication: Super high brightness and wide angle LED for visual indication.
  • Night beta light accommodation: Beta light slots in each ear for visual rod positioning.
  • Super strong fixing bolt: super strong fixing bolt for solid mounting of alarm.
  • Ultra high ears: Ultra high “ears” to eliminate the sideways movement of the rod during a sideways take.
  • Adjustable sensitivity: Wheels available in 2, 4 or 6 magnet for sensitivity adjustment that can easy be changed on the bank.
  • Protective hard cover: The protective hard cover also doubles as and ON/OFF switch, when the cover is fitted over the ATTs its battery is disconnected.

UKMA 4 Month Field Test

I received the ATTs Alarms and V2 ATTx Receiver in early February and couldn’t wait to get them on the bank and put them through their paces. My first session was on the prolific Reservoir, at Willowcroft Fish Farm and Fisheries, Near Wisbech St Mary in Cambridgeshire. On arrival I was greeted by a nice, steady 20mph easterly wind, which when it felt like being a real pain decided to gust at about 40mph which made the 6 degrees feel like -6. Through in an occasional heavy shower and add to the mix 3 foot white horse coming straight at me and my hopes where not high for the session.

ATTs Field TestBivvy all secure, rods set up and alarm all ready to go. One by one I removed the Protective hard covers off of each alarm in turn as the appropriate rod was cast into position. On placing the line into the channel of the Magnet Roller, the designated channel on the receiver instantly responded to the line movement generated by the addition of the heavy indicators required for the conditions. Once I had all three alarms set and ready for action, I retired to the comfort of my nice dry Bivvy and settled down for what I was expecting to be a very long wait taking into consideration the conditions.

After only 45 minutes, a steady one tone came from the V2 receiver, on closer inspection the left hand indicator light was letting me know that it was my left hand margin rod was engaged in an aggressive take from a very annoyed resident of the depths. I left the comfort of my Bivvy to commence battle with the fish and the elements, which by now had decided to become persistent heavy rain. To the rod I ran Like a Gazelle in slow motion, and engaged the clutch on my Baitrunner reel. After a 7-8 minute tussle, my landing net slid under a perfect 28lb 6oz mirror, first fish on the ATTs Alarms and ATTx V2 Receiver and a perfect indication, very impressed.

Over The next 40 hours or so Mother Nature decided to play all her cards and make my session a total hell, gale force winds and torrential rain, oh and just to make things interesting on the first night, it stopped raining, there was a 5 hour break in the clouds and we had a severe frost. After all of this, the ATTs alarms kept on performing superbly, the Alarms and Receiver let me know exactly what was going on in the swim at all times The ATTs wheel detection system is “intelligent”, and it understands where the wheel is and what the last activation was. Because of this intelligent technology the ATTs will not suffer from the false activations a common issue with other alarms.

The Final Verdict

After landing over 50 Carp and spending well over 900 hours on the bank using the ATTs Silent Alarms and ATTX V2 Receiver, I now feel that I can conclusively say that they are superb pieces of kit that wont let you down. No matter how hard the conditions, the Intelligent Detection system always lets you know exactly what’s going on in your swim. The Transmitters on the alarm transmits all movement to the Receiver quicker than any other alarm and receiver system I have personally used. Do they have any faults?? After 900hours I haven’t found any yet but I will let you know that on the odd occasions when I was slack lining in strong winds, I had a couple of situations when the wind blew the line clear of the groove in the Magnet Roller, this is not a fault, just be cautious when slack lining in strong winds, apart from that I would recommend the ATTS Silent Alarms & ATTx V2 Receiver to any Carper who is looking to upgrade and wants something that little bit different. Spares & Accessories
ATTs Spare Roller Wheels RRP 7.99

The ATTs Spare Roller Wheels are perfect for anglers who like to be that little bit more individual on the bank without spending a fortune. These optional accessories serve 2 purposes. The First and most important is to change the sensitivity of the Alarm to your own personal requirements and secondly as a pure out and out tackle tart accessory, each Roller being colour matched with each of the available LED colours in the range, and very nice they look too.

The ATTs Alarm has a Black, 2 Magnet Roller fitted as standard. With this set up the alarm will bleep once per every 1cm of line movement, with a 4 Magnet Roller fitted the alarm will bleep every 0.5cm of line movement but if you go the full hog and fit the 6 Magnet Rollers, this will increase the ATTS Alarms sensitivity dramatically. I personally found the standard Black, 2 Magnet Rollers supplied more than capable of registering all types of bites, from a screaming one toners to the smallest of drop backs, I experienced perfect indications, every time.
