Luggage Accessories

As the team at UKMA are more than just one discipline anglers, we all have several different pouches or luggage for each discipline that we are going to be carrying out in the angling session ahead. What we try to do is to keep the same manufacturers products together as they have been designed to incorporate together.

With recently putting the Specialist/Barbel Rucksack through its paces a couple of weeks back, Gardner Tackle also provided some of their Luggage Accessories to go with it.

Stiff Rig Pouch

With more and more anglers preparing for the session ahead so that every minute on the bank can be used towards catching their quarry rather than messing around tying up rigs etc, rig boxes or pouches are becoming more popular than ever, and the Stiff Rig Pouch from Gardner fits nicely into the marketplace.

Constructed from heavy duty dark green material which encapsulates stiffened sections to offer superb protection to the rigs inside, which stops the tensioned rigs being bent or curved in transit, the 12" (30cm) length of the pouch allows for the longest of stiff rigs to be stored under tension. One side of the inner foam has been segmented to allow short stiff rigs to be placed within the pouch without wasting space by utilising the full length of the foam insert. Gardner have also incuded 20 ball topped pins to securely hold the rigs in place.

Justbecause it is called a Stiff Rig Pouch, this does not mean that it should only be used for stiff hooklinks, as it is perfectly at home with braided or combi style rigs. Predator anglers may wish to consider this for shorter single hook wire traces.

Standard Lead/Accessory Pouch

Lead/Accessory Pouches are also becoming more favoured by anglers than the more traditional plastic boxes due to the more compact size and that anglers are realising that they may be carrying too much gear with them for the session in hand. The pouches are available in 3 sizes, but it is the Standard size that I have in front of me. All three of the pouches are supplied with 3 velcro in dividers. These give the angler lots of scope to setting the pouch up to hold the tackle that they require. The standard pouch has dimensions of 22cm x 14cm x 8cm which is the ideal size for holding those handy packets of terminal tackle items such as beads, swivels, hooks, etc. If you cannot get all the packets of sundry items like this in one of these pouches, you are taking far too much with you!

All three of the pouches have a zipped pocket in the inside of the lid which is perfect for holding scissors or baiting tools close to hand.

There are so many different uses for these pouches that only the anglers mindset is the limit.

Padded Scales Pouch

All anglers nowadays carry a set of scales, and with the cost of a good set being the same as a mid-range reel or rod, they are an item of tackle that get neglected. Having a reliable set of scales is one of the most important things to the modern angler as it gives a record of the weight of an individual fish, and scales that have been subjected to knocks etc can be inaccurate or even end up totally broken. The Gardner Large Scales Pouch has been designed to house the common sized dial scales such as the Reuben Heaton's snugly and securely. The Pouch is padded to protect the clear fascia and does not put lots of pressure on the weighing hook.

The Gardner Scales Pouch has dimensions of 32cm x 23cm with double stitched seams and a durable zip.

For the sake of under a tenner, you would be mad to overlook protection of this "scale" to your expensive weighing equipment!
