Stiff Rig Box XL

Stiff rigs in carp angling have been used for a very long time and are not a recent addition to the rig armoury as a lot of anglers think. Keeping the rigs straight when in transit was a problem for a lot of anglers and the available solutions on the market limited the angler to shorter lengths for their rigs, or took up too much valuable space in the anglers bags.

The team at Nash Tackle have realised this and come up with a solution to house longer rigs as well as taking up next to no room in the anglers luggage.

The Stiff Rig Box XL is of two piece construction with the outer being square section translucent polycarbonate tube to protect the contents from damage, with the inner section constructed with a length of high density square EVA foam which has a thin piece of plastic at the base which enables the inner section and most importantly your rigs from rubbing on the outer case. At the opposite end of the inner section, is a fitted end cap which has four metal bars (one on each side). These metal bars are quite thick in diameter compared to some of the other solutions I have seen and you know that they are not going to bend tightening up the rig. One clever little touch with regards to the metal hook bars is that the gap between the bar and the EVA inner is not so large so that the rigs are going to be running along the bar or allow the hook to fall off of it when pushing a barrow over rough terrain.

The rigs themselves are held in place by using one of the 24 supplied pins.

The dimensions of the Stiff Rig Box XL are 33cm long by 5cm wide by 5cm deep and will take up no more room than a large PVA tube in the anglers luggage.

Final Thoughts

Obviously Nash have designed this for keeping stiff rigs straight, but there is nothing to stop the angler from storing braided or mono rigs. I have used a couple of a different manufacturers rig storage to keep my pre-tied rigs safe for when I need them, but found that they take up a lof of room in the bag. The Stiff Rig Box XL sits perfectly upright in the corner of my bag leaving me plenty of space to put other items that I have had to carry seperately in other bags in the past.
