Pallatrax the Stonze™ System

Leads have been an essential part of every anglers tackle for well over a century. No matter what style of angling your participate in, you at some point will need to use a lead of one description or another. Over the past 25 years the humble lead has been replaced by other materials of lesser toxicity and of similar weight to size ratios to eliminate the risk of long term pollution problems and the ever growing risk to wildlife, in particular our feathered friends who live on or near water systems.

An exceptable solution to both angling and environmental needs was needed to keep all parties involved satisfied, this is where Simon Pomeroy and his team at Pallatrax stepped up to the plate and released the Stonze™ System. This range of weights was totally unique to all other systems available because apart from the swivel and connection ring, all other materials used in production were totally natural and found in every water system in the world, STONES.

The Stonze™ System works and performs in exactly the same way as a conventional lead or weight system. The Stonze™ by drilling into the stone at a point of balance and inserting a Flexi link swivel into the stone. This is held in place by using a slow drying waterproof adhesive which creates an incredibly strong bond between the components, ensuring maximum strength and reliability. This makes the Stonze™ System compatible with all standard lead connection devices.

The simplicity of this weighting system and the all round versatility of the Stonze™ System, has made them an essential tackle item for big fish anglers. They have taken on board the potential uses of the Stonze™ and realised that the natural camouflage created by incorporating them into your rig, could potentially increase your catch rate in some cases by substantial margins but this product's potential uses doesn’t stop there.

During my days as a match angler I found on many sessions that fish would back away from conventional feeders during matches. Even after changing over to a conventional small lead I found the fish were still exceptionally cautious. I then had the idea to use a small or suitably sized Stonze™ to carry feed like a method feeder or as a substitute for my conventional lead to try and keep the fish feeding confidently, and it worked perfectly on to many occasions to be just pure luck.

One of the UKMA field testers is a great believer in the benefits of using natural and neutral coloured materials in the assembly of all of his rigs, especially on clay and silt bottom venues. The confidence he has gained since incorporating the Stonze™ as a permanent part of his terminal tackle has led to his catch rates increasing by over 70% in the first year. Now this could be down to pure luck or one of many other factors but he believes they make a difference and who am I to argue.

The following are just some of the key points why you should consider The Stonze™ System

  • Could potentially Increased catch rate
  • Excellent for using when method fishing because of their naturally pitted surface
  • Fish learn by association and have senses yet to be fully understood – anything unnatural (e.g. hard, heavy object including method feeders and  leads) can indicate a possible danger
  • Leads and their uniform shape are consistently used on pressured waters, an alternative natural option could make a difference
  • Leads are a man-made symmetrical product that is produced from a known toxic substance. You now have a quality alternative weight system that is non-toxic and natural in appearance.
