Thinking Anglers Part 2

Those clever guys at Thinking Anglers have been at it again! Not willing to rest on their laurels, Thinking Anglers have been putting thought into existing products available and improving them to what the serious angler would appreciate.

Thinking Anglers Gas PouchThinking Angler Gas Pouch

There are a number of gas pouches on the market place, and you could be mistaken for thinking that they are all the same.

Wrong, the Thinking Anglers Gas Pouch has a couple of little tweaks from the others available that are so simple; it is a wonder that nobody else has thought of them!

Firstly, the size of the Gas Pouch is just the right size (and I mean the right size as it is very snug) for a 500g stubby canister, rather than being overly large and taking up additional room in the bag.

Being just the right size also means that the stove can be screwed onto the canister without needing to remove it from the bag.

The padding on the pouch is not as substantial as others so weighs less than half the weight of other pouches we have seen at UKMA. This also means that in the warmer months (where the pouch is used to camouflage the canister on the bank rather than to insulate the gas), the pressure in the canister is not going to be so much that it causes flare-ups or over burning of the gas coming through the stove.

Another handy little extra is the addition of a short elastic strap fitted to the side of the pouch specifically for storing a spoon! This is mega-handy as there is nothing worse than picking the spoon up off the ground covered in dirt etc to stir your tea/coffee with!!!! It also means that the spoon is in the same place each time you are looking for it (I lose more spoons a season than anything else!). The draw cord at the top of the pouch allows proper closure of the aperture without leaving several yards of cord lying around in the mud.

Thinking Anglers have gone with a carpy olive green colour for the material, which is a heavy-duty canvas, and finished the base off with a rubberised material. The rubberised material stops the pouch from sliding around as well as stopping moisture draw on those dewy mornings.
Overall another top quality item from Thinking Anglers that has had thought put into it. I know that this will be a permanent feature in my cooking equipment from now on!

Thinking Anglers Camo PouchesThinking Anglers Camo Pouches

A pouch is a pouch in reality, and there is noting majorly different between others and the Thinking Anglers pouches.

The new Camo version of the already popular pouches is the more traditional Army DPM pattern than the current trend of Realtree. The two pouches that I have my hands on are the small and the large versions.

The small version is the perfect size for putting your phone, keys, wallet or smaller items of equipment that you may wish to carry on your person on a session.

I can easily fit my phone and prescription medication into the pouch so I have it to hand at all times, even when it is not in my pocket or in the bivvy.

The larger pouch is perfect for storing leads, tissues, PVA bags, a small radio, etc, and will be very popular with those that prefer a more mobile approach to their angling. It is also the perfect size to carry enough boilies for an overnighter or short evening session without having to take excessive amounts. I am using the larger pouch to store all my PVA bags that I might need for a session so they are all together. All the pouches in the range have almost a full three-side length zip that allows easy access to the contents. The material is waterproof although we would not suggest that you throw it into the lake to test this out!!!!

All in all a simple solution but one of the most practical & nice to see a company bucking away from the Realtree trend.
Well-done Thinking Anglers.
