A different concept to the conventional cloth bags with a foil lining cold storage products we are used to using in angling.  The 13ltr Coolbox is based on a standard family Coolbox used for picnics and barbeques. The Cooler has a strong plastic twin skin foam insulated chamber which will comfortably hold enough food and liquids for a 2 to 3 night session.

When we were testing the 13ltr Coolbox we stumbled upon the fact that it had another very practical use. We discovered because of its solid construction and flat lid, the 13ltr Coolbox also makes a superb bivvy table. So unless you are planning on bivvying up on very uneven ground, the 13ltr Coolbox will perform its designated task and act as a bivvy table admirably.

The lid is fixed in place using the hinge system and has a reliable front locking latch which is air tight and exceptionally secure whilst in transit. The box is very simple to carry around as it is fitted with a moulded carry handle that is more than strong enough to handle the weight the Coolbox can potentially carry when it is fully loaded (6kg of 14mm Boillies).

To get the best performance out of the 13ltr Coolbox we froze two 500ml bottles of water and once they were fully frozen we placed them in the Coolbox for about 5 hours. This made the internal chamber exceedingly cold and created a perfectly chilled environment for storing food and liquids for long periods of time, guaranteeing your perishable food items, will be stored in perfect condition.

TOP TIP

To prolong the low temperature of the Coolbox, we found by placing a further two bottles of fully frozen water on top of your pre-frozen or perishable items this keeps them in a frozen state or perfectly fresh for up to 24 hours. Plus if you follow these simple instructions the contents of the Coolbox will stay fridge cold for over 48 hours, which is perfect for the majority of angling sessions.

Neoprene Gas Canister Cover

RRP £6.99

Features

  • Neoprene body with Nyplax base
  • Draw-string top
  • Designed for use with 450g canisters
  • Tone-on-tone subtle branding
  • Dimensions 15cm high x 12cm diameter

Protecting your gas canisters during the winter months is one of those major problems we all face as the temperatures start to drop and we start to prepare for another cold winter (lets hope it doesn’t get as cold as the last one). We have all had to sit there and wait for anything up to ten minutes for the kettle to boil, and we have all prayed for a reliable solution to this most annoying of problems.

One way of keeping the gas from cooling down and loosing pressure in the canister is to use a canister cover. Trakker Products have released a Neoprene version that is a standard green in colour that incorporating a robust Nyplax base unit which is 100% waterproof and easy to wipe clean. The case is finished of with a drawstring enclosure system which enables you to totally encapsulate the canister.

Not only does the Trakker Products Neoprene Canister Cover assists in keeping the canister pressurised during colder months and more reliable to use. They can also assist in eliminating sun glare from the very reflective canisters that majority of manufacturers produce for angling and hunting situations. (Why they don’t just make a plain green canister is beyond me).

TOP TIP

Although the canister is totally protected from the elements by the Neoprene canister cover this is not always enough to guarantee your gas will stay pressurised because of the severe temperature variations you experience during the winter months. What we have found is if you keep your covered canister in your sleeping bag when it is not in use, this will help keep the gas pressure just about perfect and keep the cover warm.

Trakker Products Session Towels

To compliment their already established accessory range, Trakker Products have released the all new for 2010 Session Towels.

These olive Green Towels have a woven Trakker logo in what is described by the manufacturer as a tone on tone colour weave making the logo distinctive but subtle at the same time.

The Session Towels are manufactured from high density cotton fibres which have very good absorbency, softness and durability, making the towels ideal for all those messy fishing situations.

They are fully machine washable and after 4 washes the Session Towels have shown no signs of shrinkage or colour loss but I recommend you read the caution below.

Caution

I would recommend that the first time you wash your Session Towels, you should wash them on there own. They do discard a noticeable amount of fibre which sticks to everything in the machine and is an absolute pain to get of other garments but after the first wash I found this problem was no more.

Final Thoughts

The Session Towels are available in two sizes, a standard that measures 25cm x 40cm and weighs approximately 50g. The second is the Large which measures 40cm x 70cm and weighs in at approximately 140g.
Expect to pay £3.99 for the standard Towel and £6.99 for the Larger Session Towel.  These useful Towels will be at home in any session angler’s kit.
