I started my fishing at an early age sprat bashing while my dad caught Tench and Bream laying on with a piece of bread flake or sweet corn in the mid 70’s in the North London area. Wow! That now means I’ve been fishing for around 36 years. I started carp fishing by accident while tench fishing the local canal in Milton Keynes. I caught a 10lb Mirror carp on sweet corn one Saturday night on 4lb line; from then on I was hooked. I then learnt my carp skills fishing around the Milton Keynes area on the canal and several different lakes catching carp on a regular basis. I have now been carp fishing for 29 years. I have fished Great Linford Lakes on and off since 1995; this was at the start of the debenture scheme and I’m still a member to this day. I have caught almost every carp out of Linford 1 Lake over this time and I’m very lucky to have one of the big carp named after me (Malcolm’s).

I now live in Northampton with my wife and two young boys age 5 and 8 and I also have a full time job which makes my successes even sweeter. In 2009 I fished St Ives Lagoon looking to catch The Fat Lady and on my 21st night at 1845 she graced my net at a massive weight of 55.04lb. The i40 from Mistral baits helped me with a very successful campaign. 2010 saw me fishing the Woolpack complex after a 50lb common (Paddle) however in June the complex lost her and 2 more of the biggest fish due to natural causes. In June 2011 I joined a Nene Valley syndicate looking to catch my first 40lb common. By mid-August I had caught the complex record twice at 45lb so it was another successful campaign completed.

I’m really looking forward to 2012 for my fishing and being involved with the UK Carp Angler team.
