Sailing Lake

With the lake being frozen for the best part of week fishing has been tough with only small clear areas fishable. Venue regular Paul Thomas did brave the arctic conditions and targeted Pike in a small area free from ice and was rewarded with two fish of 14lb and 19lb 5oz. Martin Freeman of Melton also got amongst the predators when he landed 5 Pike to 18lb on lures, Martin had fished the lake before the big freeze had taken a grip.

The Boys Pit

Again the lake has been pretty much frozen all week but before the big freeze took hold on Wednesday the boys pit was fishing excellent for small to medium sized Pike, Andy Ward of Leicester had managed 6 fish to 12lb on Lures before he switched to a float fished dead smelt to take an impressive new personal best of 18lb 4oz. The silver fish population have been biting to with Barry Phipps of Loughborough taking countless silvers to 1lb using pole tactics, Barry also landed a bonus Tench of around 5lb!

The River Wreake

With the two main lakes being frozen the River provided some welcome fishing on the complex, Carl Henry of Leicester had intended to fish for Bream on the Sailing lake but was forced to fish the river and fishing pole fished maggots temped lots of Roach to 1lb and a bonus Chub of around 3lb. Predator anglers also got amongst a few fish with plenty of Pike to 14lb.

Celtic Tackle

As of Friday 10th February we will have a brand new fully stocked tackle shop open on site, stocking all the main brands such as Solar, Preston, Greys and loads more. The shop will be open seven days week from dawn till’ dusk!

Celtic Lakes, Lampeter, Wales

Lake 5 has again been producing some fabulous catches of Carp with even the coldest of weathers producing plenty of runs and Carp to over 20lb. Keith Allenton of Lampeter fished single homemade pop up’s to land 11 fish between 9lb and 18lb 6oz, all fish were taken close to the island. Holiday angler Stuart Anderson of Telford spent 5 days fishing the pool and landed at least 6 fish every day with his best day being an impressive winter haul of 15 fish to 16lb, all fish were taken on a heavily baited area he concentrated on all week, maize was the winning bait.
