Keeping It Up- Pop-Ups Part One

Over the past year, UKCA have taken in more tubs of pop-ups than the average angler would use over a lifetime. With all of these baits due to bw reviewed, after consulting with the manufacturers, we felt it would be best if we showed the baits we had been sent and put together a brief guide to pop-ups along with the sizes available and the baits we have used, passed our tests and caught fish on.

Obviously we have not been able to list every manufacturers pop-ups in this article, so we have held some back for a further part to be added once we have managed to get out on the bank again.

Although halibut pellets may not be as effective in the winter as they are in the summer as loose feed, they are still a superb bait that a lot of anglers neglect this time of year as a hookbait.

NBRICE Stainless Carbon Rod Pod

Rod pods are a "marmite" division of angling with some anglers using them all the time and others not using them full stop. The reasons that a lot of anglers don't use them is the additional weight of carrying the pod as well as banksticks and buzzer bars. Another Rainbow Result for Lockey! *UPDATE*

As we reported on November 23 2010, when Solar Tackle boss, Martin Locke landed a cracking 84lb Common from Rainbow Lake in France, we promised our visitors pictures of this beast of a fish when they became available. With the weather causing problems where Solar Tackle are based over the past week or so, we have today recieved them from Martin.
