Bait Zone Ziggy Pops

RRP £5.99

With the weather conditions changing all the time during the winter months and fish settling in the warmer layers of the water, fishing bottom baits can be a total waste of time in many situations. One style of presentation that has found huge favour during these unsettled weather patterns by both specimen and match anglers alike is the Zig Rig. For the new comer to the sport, the Zig Rig allows the angler to present a popped up or floating bait at any depth by adjusting the length of the line from your lead or weight to the hook. By making random adjustments you will eventually find the warmer layer of water or as it is more commonly known, “The thermal” where the fish will more likely be found and caught.

One bait that has come into the UKMA office is the Ziggy Pops from Essex based particle company, Bait Zone. The Ziggy Pop is a 14mm by 10mm dumbell shaped ultra buoyant bait that have a dull pungent fruit aroma and are available in six different colours; bright white, Blue, Fluro Yellow, Fluro Orange, Fluro Pink and the en vogue, matt Black. You can buy the Ziggy Pops in individual colours or as a mixed pot and you get sixty baits per pot. They have already proven themselves to be ideal for all Zig Rig situations but they can also be used in numerous other presentations commonly used in carp and match angling. You can trim the Ziggy Pops down to create critically balanced snowman or as a perfect Pop Up or Chod Rig hook bait.

First Impressions

I have been hearing very good reports about these baits for some time now and have been really looking forward to trying them out. The Ziggy Pops are buoyant enough to easily hold up a size 8 curve shank hook and 3 foot of hook length material with easy. UKMA also found that they work perfectly when used to critically balance a 16mm boilie for snowman style presentations. If you buy a mixed pot which contains 10 of each colour for £5.99, you have 60 hook baits which works out at less than 10p per bait or potentially less than 10p per fish, which these days is superb value for money.
