First Impressions

For many years anglers have been searching for the perfect bait that can categorically make a difference when fishing in cold water conditions. By using food flavouring that are primarily part of the human food chain, numerous bait manufacturers have developed baits that can work but are not flawless in there performance. This may have something to do with flavours like garlic, curry, and sweet tropical fruits are not part of the natural eco system of the waters we fish.

Taking this on board Japanese bait giants Marukyu have spent millions of pound in researching what aquatic plant, insect and marine life has the greatest effect and results when trying to catch fish. With this intensive armoury of knowledge Marukyu are totally confident that they can produce ground baits that will give you a definite edge in any conditions including cold water situations, which is without question the hardest times of year to try and catch fish.

The first of these two ground bait offerings from Marukyu is the EFG130 which is a fine grade match formula ground bait that contains Nori (for those of you who don’t speak much Japanese, Nori in English is seaweed). This revolutionary ingredient has been proven to attract all species of fresh water fish and is widely used cold water additive by Asian bait manufacturing. The make up of the EFG130 make sit a perfect option when low food content is essential.

The second option now available is the EFG 161. This is a method mix that has been developed to cover the requirements of the European angler. It contains no less than 29 ingredients that are designed to combat what is scientifically known as “the natural chemical fog”. The different releases produce a controlled breakdown, eliminating the potential of spooking pacing fish with an overpowering aromatic cloud. The EFG161 is best suited for water temperatures above 6 Celsius (°C) and above.
