Quest Baits Pimple Pops

Finding a ways of enticing carp to take your bait in winter is the never ending challenge that all serious carp anglers take very seriously. When your favourite water has switched totally of you still make your religious pilgrimage to the waters edge, to try and entice the resident the not interested in feeding residence to take just one of your baits. One thing that has caught our attention at UKMA is the serge of micro boilies and Pop Ups that have appeared on the market over the past few months from numerous bait manufacturers. One of the latest offerings that arrived on the UKMA desk last week was the New “Pimple Pops” from Quest Baits.

These New winter baits for 2010/2011 offer the Carp angler a 4mm Pop Up bait that is supplied in a multiple choice of colours including fluro Orange, Pink, Yellow and Purple. The “Pimple Pops” carry two already established and widely recognised winter flavours from the Quest Baits range, the “Rahja Spice” (Pictured) and the “Fruity Trifle” but we have heard that other flavours are to follow. So why have Quest Baits decided to release Micro sized hook bait for winter work, UKMA made contact with Quest Baits owner Shaun Harrison told us;

“Small hook baits have been a major part of my fishing for many years.   I like the hook bait to be smaller than the freebies as I’m convinced they rouse less suspicion. It is usual for me to trim the skin off my standard baits thus making them visually smaller. Winter time especially allows the use of mini baits and after the capture of a 30lb plus February mirror out of the Mangrove on micro 4mm artificial bait it really got me thinking. One 4mm artificial sat out in splendid isolation had tricked that carp into having a go in what were far from ideal conditions. Now if I made it even easier for the fish to find..
This was 5 years ago and what are now known as ‘Pimple Pops’ soon became part of my secret armoury. The size makes them so different to what the fish usually associate with danger and 2 of these will hold my favourite hook pattern up for a full 24 hour! Pimple Pops have come into their own in my own fishing for maximum range casting at showing fish. At one time I used to trim conventional baits down in order to make them more aero dynamic to try and achieve those precious few yards – now I don’t have to bother. Chuck a tiny 6mm Pimple Pop over your shoulder, turn around and you spot it immediately. The carp find them very quickly even when fished in isolation”.

Final Thoughts

UKMA feel that these little offerings from Quest Baits will not only satisfy the requirements of the specimen Carp angler but we also feel that the commercial fisheries angler both match and pleasure will benefit from using this highly visible little baits. If you are looking for that special winter edge when the fish simply don’t appear to want anything, or if you are struggling to hit those extra few yards on the cast then this could be the bait for you. £6.99 buys you these very special little gems from Quest Baits that I’m sure will catch you fish over the coming months.

Watch this space as we get them out on the bank and put them through there paces over the winter months.
