Yorkshire Baits U.K.
Bloodworm Range

First Impressions

Over the past 5 years Yorkshire Baits as they were originally know when owned by former Fishomania champion Rob Hitchens have established a solid reputation up north for there top quality baits and in particular their Soft Hook Pellets. Early in 2010, Perry Stone took over the running of the business from his long time angling friend and started work on improving this high quality range.

The Bloodworm range are a selection of the existing products in the Yorkshire Bait range which have been coloured red and flavoured with a Bloodworm flavouring. With bloodworm being one of the most natural food sources available to the fish, it is a proven fish catcher and red is a noted favourite colour of anglers.

Within the range that Yourkshire Baits supply, UKMA have been sent the Bloodworm Commercial Fisheries Range Groundbait/Paste, Southern Softie moistened feed pellets, triple pot soft pellet hookbaits and 6mm hard feed pellet.

The Groundbait/Paste is a blend of ingredients that Yorkshire Baits have found to be perfect for use in angling. The groundbait mixes up into a light fluffy mix which creates a cloud as it breaks down making it perfect for open end feeder work, or if the mix is squeezed a bit harder, it turns into the ideal Method groundbait or for use to throw in and breakdown closer to the deck. Adding additional water to the mix transforms the groundbait into a paste that breaks down slowly, leaving sufficient bait on the hook still to resist the movement from liners that hard feeding fish can give to the rig. The Bloodworm Commercial Fisheries Groundbait/Paste will find favour with Bream anglers on natural waters as well. Priced at £3.40 per 900g bag, it offers good value for money.

The Southern Softie moistened feed pellets will find favour with anglers who like convenience without losing confidence in their baits. The Southern Softie pellets are available in two sizes; 4mm or Micro, and have been designed to be used with a Method or pellet feeder. The moistened pellets bind together with a light squeeze but also breakdown in the water quickly leaving a small pile of bait for the fish to dig around into. Dusted with the groundbait, a cloud is formed around the pile of pellets on the bottom which offers more attraction than just pellets alone. The tubs that the Southern Softie pellets are supplied in will fit perfectly on the angler's bait tray as well as stack nicely in a carryall. The Southern Softie pellets have a RRP of £3.60 for 800g with a reusable, resealable tub.

UKMA covered the Triple Pot Soft Hook pellets in a recent review (which can be found here), and Yorkshire Baits have added the Bloodworm flavoured pellets to the range. The red coloured pellets are supplied in a tri-sectioned resealable tub in sizes 4mm, 6mm & 9/11mm at a RRP of £3.50 per tub.

Last, but not least, Yorkshire Baits have added hard feed pellets to the complete the range. The Bloodworm feed pellets are uniform in shape and density, which anglers will appreciate when feeding them outside of pole distance on methods such as the pellet waggler. The pellets are of a low oil profile and have been dyed red and flavoured with the Yorkshire Baits Bloodworm flavouring. The Feed Pellets are available in sizes; Micro, 4mm, 6mm, 8mm & 10mm at £2.99 per 800g bag.

First Impressions

UKMA have just received samples of the New Bloodworm range, and will be putting them through their paces as soon as we can. First impressions of the bloodworm baits are very good indeed. The Softie dusted pellets bind together perfectly for match angling method work, and break up fast enough to not be dragged all over the swim. The groundbait/paste feels nice in the fingers straight from the bag, and the small amount we mixed up to test, should be perfect for open end feeder work or cupping in, as well as use as a soft paste. The triple pot hookbait pellets are as we said in the recent review of them are a breath of fresh air and will save the angler money in not having to buy large tubs. Finally the 6mm feed pellets are spot on as well in that they are uniform in shape meaning that they could be catapulted accurately, as well as being fairly dense, so that cross winds shouldn't affect accuracy as much as some other pellets.

Overall we cannot wait to get out and put them through their paces.
