Barston Masters 2012
The Barston Masters May 12th Qualifier
The 2nd round of the Barston masters took place on a nice bright sunny day!! A nice change from the recent weather we have had!! Once again Greys and Bagem matchbaits sponsered the event with section prizes , but a special thanks must go to Omer from Kobra feeders who put prizes up for 1st , 2nd and 3rd , plus every angler got a a method feeder from Omer at the draw. DS floats also added to the Goodie bages for section winners putting in £20 worth of pole floats which he has made. These floats are of top quality and are well worth a look !!

The Barston Masters April 14th Qualifier
The First round of The Barston Masters sponsored by Greys and Bag'em Matchbaits on April 14th 2012 was not going to be an easy Match with temps just around 2 degrees to start the morning off. 80 Anglers turned out for the 1st Qualifier looking to win there section to get in the Grand final to be held in September.
On the day Lee Taylor ( Hardy/Greys and Bag'em Matchbaits) took the top spot with 71lb 12oz of carp and f1’s off Peg 18. Lee caught on the Method Feeder at around 70 – 80 yards using Bag'ems Commercial carp Groundbat and Bag'ems Fluro Pop ups. Lee’s first fish came after 45 minutes and then some bigger specimens up to 12lb turned up. Lee had a total of 9 proper carp , and 8 f1’s for his 71lb 12 oz winning match weight and this guarantees a place in this years final.
Second place went to Chris Glover ( Browning) off peg 23. Chris caught well from the off with f1’s and bigger carp also to 12lb on the method feeder at 60 yards. Chris finished up with 71lb 8 oz, just 4 oz short of Lee Taylor.
Third place went to "Mr Consistent" Gregg Norris ( Garbolino Lindholme) . Gregg was on peg 24 where he also fished the method feeder at range and finished the match with 65lb 12 oz and a place through to the final in September.

After the huge success of matches at Barston throughout 2011 and everyone’s positive comments about the Midlands venue it was decided to put together a series of opens at Barston for 2011
running from April through to September .Following on we are now doing it all over again in 2012.
The dates for these matches are as follows;
5 opens to be held the second Saturday of every month.
- Saturday - April 14th 2012
- Saturday - May 12th 2012
- Saturday - June 9th 2012
- Saturday - July 14th 2012
- Saturday - August 11th 2012
- The Final -
Saturday - September 8th 2012
Barston Masters was the brainchild of Midlands angler Lee Taylor. He approached Nigel Harry who runs Barston Lakes and was given the green light to run a series of opens. Barston Lakes is fast becoming THE must fish venue for the serious match angler with 100lb+ nets commonplace.

With the help of a few colleagues and friends to run the event ,it is hoped that the series will become an annual event , going from strength to strength.
We are proud to announce that the final round of The Barston Masters is being sponsored by Hardy/Greys Coarse Fishing and Bag’em Match baits .We have secured prizes for every section winner plus the overall top 3 on the day.
Each round will see 80 competitors. To qualify for the final round you must win your section of 5 anglers .The first round 16 section winners will go through. If in the second round an angler already qualified wins his section, the spare place in the final will be allocated to the highest weight second in section, from any section. We decided not to default the sections as it could be open to abuse if `mates` drew the same section and one had already qualified etc.
If you have qualified and you feel you don’t want to fish the other rounds you may relinquish your spot for someone else , although it is not compulsory.
Each match will be book in by no later than 8.45am for a 9am draw and we will fish 11am - 4 pm.
There will be 8 sets of scales, each set will weigh 2 sections of 5 anglers. The first two anglers in the 2 sections of 5 anglers will complete the weigh in. You will pick these up when you have drawn your peg, and it will be written on your peg , that you are either scales or board man!
If you are Interested in any of these dates please e-mail me on lee.taylor_1@btinternet.com or phone me on 07932766515.
For The Barston Masters 2012 I am asking for all peg fees up front which will be £7.50 per match for the 5 qualifing rounds which is £37.50.
Your name will not go down on the paid list until you have paid. I will not be taking names for the sake of it , it’s a case of you pay and you can play!! I will cap it at 80 anglers per round. On the day of the match it will be £20.00 on the morning so for each match will be £27.50.
NOW FOR THE GRUMPY MATCH ORGANISERS PART!!!
I will ask that , if you are not going to fish any of the matches and your names down , you let me know 48hrs before the event so I can offer it to someone else on the reserve list.
Anyone who does not let us know he is cancelling , and does not show , will lose his place to all the other matches. Sorry to be blunt , but I'm not prepared to let Nigel down on pegs!!
All rules are to be fished to the Rules Of Barston Fishery , anyone to be found breaking those rules, will be asked to leave , and will not fish another one of these opens.
There is also NO SPODDING on the Barston Masters Matches!!
I'm taking nothing out for myself , I just want to fish some good matches at Barston and have a great time like we did in 2011!!
Once again.. any problems or questions you can contact me on lee.taylor_1@btinternet.com or my mobile 07932766515

Barston Masters 2012 Update
UKMA are pleased to announce that The Barston Masters 2012 sponsored by Hardy Greys and Bagem Match baits is now sold out!! This very successful event from 2011 has had anglers from all over the country booking onto this event for 2012 to see who will lift the Barston Masters title which Pemb Wrighting won in September 2011.
This year though Lee Taylor, the match Organiser, has been out getting even more sponsors to back this event , and on each Qualifying round the below company's will be putting up some prizes for the anglers:
There has been a lot of disappointed anglers though this year due to the high demand of a place in the qualifiers which sit from April through to August. Lee asked for Peg fees up-front to confirm the 80 anglers fishing per round and did it on a first come first served basis. This proved to be the fairest way and as a result of this a full 80 anglers will be fishing each round. Some anglers were just not quick enough and will now have to wait for The Barston Masters 2013!!
The first round kicks off in April where we will see who are the first 16 section win qualifiers to go through to the final in September. Here at Uk Match angler we will be following the event through the year to keep you all up to date with the results. For more Information on the Barston Masters please look on the Barston Masters website
Barston Masters Welcomes New Top Brand Sponsorship
One of the up and coming match events of the year The Barston Masters has built a fine reputation for itself over the past couple of years as one of the biggest event to be held in the midlands. With big fields of top quality anglers flocking to the event, it comes as no surprise that numerous top brands have decided to attaché there name to this prestigious event. So after a call to the event organiser Lee Taylor for an update on proceedings, UKMA found out that the event had now attracted yet another top sponsor, in the shape of Halkon Hunt, arguably the biggest name in match angling apparel as sponsors for the July 2012 qualifier.
Lee said “I’m proud to announce that Halkon Hunt have come on board to support The Barston Masters by sponsoring the July Qualifier”, he continued “The Barston Masters is growing from strength to strength and with Halkon Hunt now supporting the event, it has made all of our hard work worth while and established the event on the already busy Midlands match angling calendar. With all 5 Qualifying rounds are now sponsored by a different Angling related company, we are delighted that the Barston Masters can now attract such support from both the match anglers and the so many of the leading tackle and bait manufacturers" .
