List Of Entrants & Results For Each Qualifier As They Come In

BRITISH WATERWAYS STILL WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010
First Qualifier Results
Saturday 22 May 2010
Boddington Reservoir

The preceding week had seen match weights where every angler had averaged 170lb and the top weight caught was 460lbs. However!! The warm weather had brought the fish into spawn on Friday night and come the day of the BWS Champs, it was a struggle to even get a bite with a number of anglers failing to weigh in.

There were still some decent weights returned from the high peg numbers.

It was a full turn out, well almost.

One angler couldn’t turn up as his lift didn’t pick him up in the morning; I think Nicky Dean was possibly not too popular later on in the day!!

Many thanks to everyone who helped; including the bailiffs and anglers on the bank when weighing in.

Round One QualifiersIt made for a great day to go with the fantastic weather, just a shame about the fishing.

Next round is at Earlswood (Engine) on Saturday 12th June; draw in the car park at 09:00 fish 11:30 – 16:30.

BRITISH WATERWAYS STILL WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010
Second Qualifier Results
Saturday 12 June 2010
Earlswood Engine Pool

Great weather, fishing not so great but some very good anglers.!!
Some of the best carp match anglers in the country were here for this the second round of the BWS champs.
But on the day the fishing was patchy and the weights were not so good. However is was a great match and I have to say one of the friendliest big
opens I have been involved in for a while.

QUALIFIERS

Section. A. Steve Potter. Peg 12. 44lbs
Section. B. Dave Frith. Peg 22. 88lbs
Section. C. Terry Winstone. Peg 28. 75lbs 14oz
Section. D. James Hipkiss. Peg 66. 67lbs 8oz
Section. E. Nigel Franklin. Peg 79. 134lbs

Nearly all fish fell to the pellet waggler.

Many thanks for all those who turned up and hope you all got home safely for that really great football match. Specific thanks to the bailiff for helping to weigh in and to Nigel Franklin; for weighing in and I have a bottle at home for you for first overall.

BRITISH WATERWAYS STILL WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010
Third Qualifier Results
Saturday 26 June 2010
Earlswood Engine Pool

A full house of 50 anglers turned up for the third round at Earlswood on Saturday.
The warm weather once again had the fish on the surface and the weights were consistent all around the Lake.
The top weight was Mark Bartlett, off peg 56 with 231lbs 12oz and Steve Ringer with 206lbs 4 oz had the second best weight on the day. The back up weights were good all round the lake, but there was a lack of fish in the low numbers with just two fish being enough to win A section (They did weigh 32lbs though!!).

QUALIFIERS

Section A. Shaun Sanders. Peg 13. 32lbs 4oz
Section B. Jason Benning. Peg 23. 143lbs 2oz

BRITISH WATERWAYS STILL WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010
Fourth Qualifier Results
Saturday 3 July 2010
Boddington Reservoir

The latest qualifier for the BWS Champs was held at Boddington on Saturday 3rd 2010.
The match was on pegs 33 to 82. I must thank Ian Coxon for drawing me peg 34 (Absolute flyer..!!)
In fact it was so poor in A section myself, Steve and Phil Ringer spent the best part of 5 hours either practicing casting or reading the news paper; which actually seemed to improve Phil's success rate (Read paper, tip goes round, must have been a tabloid news paper though as he only caught a couple of fish).

So here are the latest qualifiers.

The final qaulifier at Clattercote threw up some fairly good weights from all around the lake, despite fishing quite hard. The majority of fish fell to the Bagging Waggler and a few to the method.
A big thanks to all those who helped on the day; especially John the bailiff who drove miles to get a second set of scales as the others were somewhere near Solihull!!

BRITISH WATERWAYS STILL WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010
Grand Final

18 September 2010

Boddington Reservoir

Well, 5 qualifying rounds later and 25 finalists all sat down and ready to go at Boddington on pegs 2 to 26.
The general consensus from them all was that it was as fair as possible. Of course there are always going to be some pegs better than others and the form pegs were reckoned to be in the middle of the the dam wall.

With one angler not turning up, that left a vacant peg and with an in form Geoff Ringer next to it - you can guess who my money was on.

As the match progressed there was no one angler who was really out in front. Steve Ringer had got three in the net off peg 7 and Geoff about the same. On peg 2, Shaun Sanders had about 5 and Anthony Brooker had about 5 as well. Nearly every angler at this point had a couple of fish. The last hour and a half would proove crucial.

Shaun Sanders collects his winnings from Ian MaltbyLate into the match Richie Hull (Garbolino Dynamite Baits) started to put a run of fish together and both he and Shaun were playing catch up with Anthony. There were still others in the mix though. Geoff Ringer had a couple of lumps, James Hipkiss was putting fish in the net and Glen Greasley (Barnsley Bait Co) was also catching.

All these anglers were catching on the method feeder between 40 and 70 yards out. With the final whistle it was not clear who would come out on top. And it was literally the final two weighs that decided first and second.

Overall Results:

1st Shaun Sanders (Barnsley Bait Co) - 60lbs 14oz - £3000 & glass trophy
2nd Richie Hull (Garbolino Dynamite Baits) - 58lbs 08oz - £1500 & glass trophy
3rd Anthony Brooker - 58lbs 2oz - £500 & glass trophy

So, a big thank you to all anglers and helpers etc in all the qualifiers and final. The venues have been booked again for next year and letters will be sent out to all those whose details we have. This will be in the New Year. It will include previous anglers as well. One week after the invites are sent out, the tickets will go open via the internet. All tickets allocation will be first come first served. So if you get a letter, get a cheque in the post quick to avoid disappointment. And yes, I have agreed to to run the event again next year and maybe some other events, possibly on BW waters and maybe Barston. Finally a big thanks to Geoff Ringer and Ian Coxon for moral support.
