Realtree Lakemore Catfish Challenge Cup 2010

July 3 2010 was the date for the annual Catfish Challenge Cup held at Realtree Lakemore fishery near Crewe.

Fishery owner, Mark Ashmore, kindly sent in the below report of the event.

Specimen and match anglers taking place were.

Simon Clarke - Lewis Murawski
Kev Shore - Mark Walton
Gary Newman - Matt Hall
Terry Knight - Keith Stevenson
Phil Aylett - Kieron Rich
Ron Griffish - Stuart Beard
Dave Foster - Tony Winnick
Nick Edwards - Dean Barlow
Tony Corbett - Steve Collett
Tom Webb - Pete Goodman

Match weights accumulated from the afternoon session only came into play if and when a catfish was caught, as such Kev Shore was in fact leading the pack for an hour or so as he caught a catfish from Golden lake, all be it a kitten, Jan actually won that match with 38lb 8oz, however as his partner didn't manage to land a cat his match weight was sadly not carried over toward the Catfish Challenge.

WINNERS - Simon Clarke - Lewis Murawski with a total of 90lb 4oz ( 34lb 8oz + 3 cats - biggest 25lb 8oz) (pictured right)
2nd - Gary Newman - Matt Hall total of 35lb 1oz ( 7lb 8oz + 1 cat at 26lb 9oz)
3rd - Tony Corbett and Steve Collett total of 30lb (10lb + 1 cat at 20lb)

Biggest Catfish trophy went to Matt Hall with his 26lb 9oz

All in all I thought it went very well indeed, not only does it bring Match anglers and Specimen anglers together to learn each others quarry, but the event is a huge annual boost in my quest to get Catfish the respect they deserve within the angling community.
