Match Leger Weights

Fox International set a pedestal about 5 years ago when they released the Fox Match Leger Weight. For the first time a lead pattern that found common place in specimen carp circles, was now available in weights and a sizes that perfectly suited both match and specialist anglers requirements. Due to the flat pear shaped body design of the leger weight, not only do they cast superbly ( I have personally cast distances well in excess of 120yds using a 2oz leger weight and a 13’ medium feeder rod)  but they also hold the bottom far better than the conventional and now outdated Arlesey Bomb.  

These compact, aerodynamic weights have been Computer Engineered to optimise the leads all round performance when in the water. By giving the lead a flat face on either side, this virtually guarantees the weight will stay in position on sloping uneven ground and on fast flowing river beds, were static presentation is critical. A suitable free running swivel is encapsulated in the top of the leger weight, which give the match and specialist angler the option of fishing free running, in a loop, paternostered or semi-fixed rig presentations.

These versatile leger weights has made many friends over the years, not only have the match and specialist worlds embraced them but carp anglers have also taken advantage of the weights in the larger sizes, simply because they are much cheaper than conventional carp leads. One of the UKMA team uses these leads exclusively for his chod rig work.

The leger weights are available in 1/8oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz, 3oz, 1.0oz, 1 1/8oz, 1 1/4oz, 1 1/2oz, 1 3/4oz and 2.0oz sizes, giving a lead that is versatile enough to handle virtually any freshwater angling situation.
