GURU Tackle Micro Lead ClipsRRP £3.99 Per Pack
With neither of these old school products or conventional lead and feeder being totally reliable, a product was needed that would connect leads and feeders to a reel line and assist tangle free casting but more importantly it must incorporate a fish safe release system which enables a lead or feeder to be released from your rig should the unfortunate situation arise that whilst playing a fish it become tethered in an under water snag. Taking all of these points on board and after three years design and development, a product has finally been released that ticks all the above boxes, introducing the Guru Micro Lead Clip. For those of you who have been in cold storage for the past 10 years and never used or seen a lead clip before, they are a very simple system which entails using a swivel which you connect your reel line to one end and your hook length to the other. You have the Lead Clip itself, which is a moulded, plastic gadget which has a twin girthed cylinder for your swivel to sit in one end and reel line to pass through the other. Directly underneath this is a “P” shaped arm which is the retainer for the swivel of the lead or feeder. Once you swivel is mounted in the curve of the arm a tail cover or sleeve is simply slid over the arm and cylinder to hold everything in place. ![]() The Guru Micro Clips are simply down sized versions of the above and comes to the angler as the complete package. In the distinctive bright orange and black packaging you get 10 Clips, 10 Tail Covers and 10 size 11 swivels. The clip is manufactured from a uniquely coloured plastic which becomes virtually invisible on all types of lake beds making the need for a different colour for all environments a thing of the past. You also get a very well illustrated guide on the correct way to use the Micro Lead Clip and the benefits of using the system, which are huge both to your fishing and to fish welfare. FootnoteAt last a lead clip that will no doubt find its way into virtually all commercial fishery anglers tackle boxes over the next few months, if it isn’t in there already. Perfect for the job it is designed for and I really like the Chameleon effect it has in water, it is virtually invisible under water against any background. One point but not a major criticism is they need to release an anti tangle rig sleeve to accompany the Micro Lead Clip. This is a tapered rubberised sleeve that is about an inch long and covers the joint between the hook length and swivel, insuring no tangle on casting and finish of the rig perfectly, ask any carp angler in the know. Apart from that one finicky detail, the Guru Micro Lead Clip is a must have piece of terminal tackle for the match or specialist angler. ![]() |

The modern feeder angler is always on the look out for tackle developments to assist in the presentation of the rig and also to reduce the chances of tangles whilst casting. Until last year the match angler had no alternative but to walk the banks of the local specimen lakes and ask the specimen anglers, aka “Bivvy Boys” what they were using for straight lead connection and how they reduce rig tangles. With nothing really readily available that was designed specifically for lead and feeder connection with the course/match angler in mind, apart from the conventional American style snap swivel and reliable rig boom.
