GURU Tackle Square LeadsRRP £1.65 - £2.25 Per Pack
About four years ago, flat pear shaped patterns had been made available in sizes suited for the match angler but for some unknown reason, this well designed option still kept to the dated original lead grey colour which for the match angler who thinks outside the box is just not suited to his more intelligent approach to lead tactics. A need has now grown for a lead system that not only blends into its environment but also gives the angler piece of mind that it will hold the bottom every time you cast out your rig but be must available in a selection of smaller more suitable sizes. To feed the hunger for a lead that would suit virtually every requirement, Guru have released a range of square leads that will tick most boxes on a match anglers must do list. The leads are manufactured from a non toxic material and are finished off with a smooth toughened outer coating in a specially selected non reflective matt brown colour. Each lead is fitted with a large eye swivel which gives the angler the option to either use a conventional snap swivel connection to the reel line or opt to use one of the Guru micro lead clips. When fishing the lead on commercial fisheries, it is imperative to have a lead that will hold position, especially when casting tight to an island. This is why Guru opted for the already tried and tested square shaped lead, which without question is one of the more reliable anti-roll lead designs available. Each of the leads is clearly embossed with its weight in grams and ounces and displays the Guru logo on the opposite side. The Guru Square Leads are supplied in packs of three and are available in sizes 1/3oz, 2/3oz and 1oz. Well done to Guru for finally releasing leads that until now have only been available in sizes best suited for specialist anglers. They have been a long time coming and hopefully the Square leads are the first of many patterns to make the cross over in the weights categories required for match fishing situations. ![]() |

The leads used in match fishing have been a standard Arlesey bomb design and lead grey in colour for as long as I can remember, with the drilled bullet or the coffin lead the only real alternative. The only other options available were leads specifically designed for Carp fishing that for most of the situations in match fishing were a bit over gunned say the least. So with so many match anglers looking at the benefits that could be gained by using leads of different shapes, designs and even colours to aid the presentation of the rig, an alternative was needed
