Rigmaster

The RigMaster

It is not very often that a company thinks of the simplest thing out there, and comes up with a solution to make the task a lot easier.
I would say that all of us at one time, will want to sit and tie up a load of identical rigs with the exact same hair length. We are all used to putting a bait onto the hair and then tying up rigs at home, and each time there is a couple of millimetres difference in the length of the hairs, and it is always at the back of our minds that it is this that could be the difference between catching a fish or the rig being ejected without a hook hold.

Not anymore though with the RigMaster!

The RigMaster is more than just a sure fire way of making sure that the length of the hair is the same each time it is used, it is also very handy for those with finger mobility problems or for tying a quick rig up in the depths of winter on the bank. The process of using a RigMaster is simplicity itself.

Step 1: Cut a length of hooklink material off as per normal and tie the hair loop. Set the RigMaster collar to the length of the hair that you require (the shaft of the tool is notched at 5mm intervals) and place the loop over the “mushroom” on the collar.

Step 2: Open the vice at the end of the RigMaster and place the hook into the jaws, making sure that the bend of the hook is flat against the base of the vice and then tighten the locking mechanism with a twist of the handle. With the point of the hook pointing down and the “mushroom” holding the hair loop facing up, thread the hooklink material down through the eye of the hook.

Step 3: Rotate the RigMaster as you would in tying a knotless knot until you have the required number of turns on the hook shank making sure that you rotate away from the gap in the eye.
Rigmaster Step 4: Place the hooklink material back through the eye again and tighten.

Step 5: Release the hook from the RigMaster vice and you have a perfectly tied hair rig. If you wish to use silicone on the hook shank to trap the hair, this is the time to place it on.

It really is as simple as that!

There has been a number of hair gauges made available in recent months, but this is the Crème De La Crème of them in our opinion, and is now a permanent placement in the tackle box. A simple idea combined with a hook tying aid that is going to be a big hit with all anglers that use hair rigs. The RigMaster is also ideal for the match angler that uses very small hooks for hair rigs and we have tied rigs up using size 18 hooks with no problems and hairs as short as 5mm! If you already haven’t done so, GET ONE!!!!
