Stars Galore, Grace The Floor At the Big One 2012

 

With less than a month to go until the Big One 2012 the buzz is starting to really build as the Tackle and Baits industries prepare themselves for what is arguably the biggest angling event of the year. Between the 130 plus exhibitors there will be huge number of the angling worlds celebrities in attendance to offer the visiting crowd advice, info and even the odd photo might be had with your angling mentor if you’re lucky.

For the coarse and match anglers amongst you, there will be a who’s who of the coarse angling world, with the legends of media John Wilson, Matt Hayes, Keith Arthur, plus from the ITV River Monsters series Jeremy Wade will also be at the show on both days signing books and talking to the crowds.

To back up these house hold names you will also have match angling legends Bob Nudd, Steve Ringer, Tom Pickering, Darren Cox, Dave Harrell, Perry Stone, Dennis White, Andy Kinder, Sean Ashby and Dennis White all on hand to pass on there expertise and superb angling knowledge.

If your personal angling is based around catching big carp and all things specialist you will also be very well catered for at the show. Already confirmed you’ll have Martin Locke, Ian Chillcott, Darrel Peck, Ian Russell, with many, many more to be confirmed over the weeks leading up to the show.

The Big One Update 24/02/2012

 

With the show now only a few weeks away, its time to start looking into who’s going to be doing what at the Big One 2012. So over the next three weeks we will be contacting many of the exhibitors to find out what will be on display on there stands and who will be there to assist you over the two days.

 

 

Stand No.116 Atomic Tackle

After a very interesting chat with Simon Healy and his partner at Atomic Tackle Tom Dale, UKMA can reveal that the Surrey based terminal tackle manufacturers will have there entire range on display and available for you to view and buy over the two days. Simon informed us “As per usual we will be offering great deals on all of our lead range with a few special offers on a selection of some of the numerous terminal tackle accessories currently available in the Atomic Tackle range.

 

 

 

Stand No.82 Marukyu

We had a chat with Marukyu’s marketing manager Nick Marlow who kindly told us “the Japanese bait firm will be in full attendance at this year’s Big One – with its full range of scientifically developed products. The team, including the likes of Roy Marlow, Tim Hodges, Jon Hall and Wendy Perry, will be on hand to demonstrate the companies amazing products and show you how you can put more fish in your net.
Rumour has it that the team will have a few special show promotions available on both days.

 

Stand no.86 STONEROACH

First time exhibitors at the Big One STONEROACH will be showing off there excellent range of high quality angling apparel. If you are prepared to spend top money on top quality clothing designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom, then we highly recommend you pay stand 86 a visit. Company MD Philip Cartner will be on hand to answer all your questions, supported by Carl Sharp, the SOLAR Tackle sponsored, midlands based rod will be available on both day for a chat about all things carpy and to show off this exceptional clothing range from an anglers perspective.

 

This week’s feature stand - No.79 Dave Harrell Angling

Dave will be showing his full range of running line floats for river and stillwater fishing on Stand 79 at this year’s Big One Show. If you’ve got any questions about running line floats and approaches this is your big chance to meet the man that many people consider to be the best river angler in the country.

There will also be an opportunity to find out about Dave’s coaching days, which have proved to be really popular on a variety of venues since they began last year. As an added bonus one lucky visitor to the stand, plus a guest, will be able to win a free day coaching day with Dave on the River Wye in the summer!

Dave Harrell Angling has only been going a few months but the response to the initial range of floats has been excellent and more new patterns are on the way soon as well as many other new products.

“I have been delighted with the response so far,” Dave told UK Match Angler. “Anglers from all over the country are now using my floats on a variety of venues and the feedback I’ve had has been fantastic! It’s the first time at the Big One Show for me and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I’ll be on our stand all weekend and I’m really looking forward to meeting and talking to the anglers who attend.”

 

In Brief

UKMA have just received word that Martin Salter from the Angling Trust will be holding a seminar along with the voice of angling Keith Arthur talking about the impact that Cormorants are having on our fish stocks and you will also get your chance if you haven’t done so already to sign the massive petition that will be presented to the government the week after the show. Other new just come in includes Bob James will be in attendance and taking the stage in the seminar arena and on the match angling front, Sensas have announced that England International Will Raison will be attending the show and you can meet him on stand no.3.

The Big One 2012  Update 02/03/2012

 

With just over seven days to go until the doors open for yet another angling extravaganza at Farnborough Airfield. The usual pilgrimage of thousands of anglers expected over the two day event, the angling industry has yet again joined forces with Fishface Promotions to put together a who’s who of angling for the general publics delight. Over the years, the trade and retail sectors have both realised the potentials of selling and exhibiting at the Big One and as soon as you enter this year’s show, the number of companies in attendance clearly illustrates just how big and popular this event has now become with all involved.

 

UKMA have just found out from Garbolino’s Darren Cox that there stand will be bigger than last years with a full team of celebrity angler on hand with all the information on there new products plus they will be offering an interactive but to get the full low down on this new feature you will have to visit them at stand No.4. One of the many top names supporting the Garbolino stand will be Neil Machin who will also be doing a talk on how to get the very best from the excellent Bag ‘em match baits range of products in the seminar theatre. (All talks are well advertised over the PA system so listen out for talk schedules, times and which appropriate theatre)

 

 

The Hardys, Greys, Chub can be found at stand no. 8 and if top quality specialist and carp gear is your thing then this is one to definitely add to your list of things to visit.

 

 

If you head down to stands 10 you will find the Preston Innovations, Korum & SonuBaits showing off there wears. AS per usual you will be greeted by many well known anglers on their stand including Ian Day, Des Shipp and Tom Pickering to name but a few of the huge team that support this huge brand. On stand 11 you have the Avid Carp team, which includes Ian Russell, showing off what they have to offer the carp anglers in 2012.

 

 

On the Media front you have all the usual suspect including the Angling Times, Anglers Mail and David Hall Publications in attendance. UKMA have just got word that DHP will be offering some exceptional subscription deals on Advanced Carp and Total carp magazines, so we highly recommend you pop down to stand no.94 as these deals are too good to miss.

 

 

The retail sector will also be very well supported with Hertfordshire based Johnson Ross Tackle in attendance on stand no.46 offering there usual excellent service and quality products including the excellent Matrix range of stainless rod supports and indicators that always pull a crowd.

The Big One Update 05/03/2012

 

With less than five days to go before the doors open we have just received news that Matt Hayes and Mick Brown will be appearing together at this years show. The infamous duo are part of the ever growing list of top angling celebrities that will be attending to make your day complete. From the world of carp you will have numerous big names offering you advice and those all important tricks of the trade including
Danny Fairbrass, Ali Hamidi, Ian Russell, Keith Williams, Ian Chilllcott, Chris Rose, Steve Spurgeon, Chris Ball and many, many more.

We have also just got confirmation that top southern based match angler Perry Stone will also be in attendance. He will be offering great deals on the superb Yorkshire Baits UK range of commercial fishery baits.

If you have forgotten to buy your tickets in advance, don’t panic!!, As you will be able to buy your tickets on the door on both days for £10.00 or £5.00 for a half day ticket after 13.00 or 1.00PM. The Big One 2012 Update 9/03/2012

 

With less than 24 hours to go until the doors open on this year’s event the angling industry is buzzing in anticipation. With record crowds expected UKMA spoke to Vince and Colin at Fishface Promotions who told us “The number of advanced ticket sales have been greater than usual this year but if you haven’t booked in advance and still want to visit the Big One you will still be able to pay at the door. They continued “we have done everything possible to make the angling publics visit to the Big One 2012 as relaxing and enjoyable as possible, with extra Golf Buggies to shuttle you to and from your car to the main entrance and with more top brands on display than ever we’re really excited about this years event”

 

 

ON THE DOOR TICKET INFORMATION

If you have forgotten to buy your tickets in advance, don’t panic!! You can buy your tickets on the door on both days for £10.00 or £5.00 for a half day ticket after 13.00 or 1.00PM. Concessionary ticket price is £6.00 and apply to the over 65’s, Juniors aged 12 - 15 and blue badge holders, with all juniors that are under twelve years old getting in free of charge.

 

Event News In Brief

To join the huge army of tackle and bait manufacturers we have mentioned in our previously updates, Lewis Read and his team will be offering tackle advice and advanced angling tips on the Gardner Tackle stand in association with Snags Tackle and you will be able to find them on stand no.62.

 

 

UKMA had a quick chat with Solar Tackle’s man at the helm Martin Locke who told us “Solar Tackle will be offering excellent deals that have been put together specifically for the show on most of our top selling terminal tackle, indicators and accessories”

Martin will be joined on stand no.41 by Nick Helluer and numerous well know members of the Solar Tackle team.

 

Foot Note

After attending the Big One on the last four events I can honestly say this is without question the biggest across the board angling event in the UK. No matter what type of angler you are there will be something to wet your appetite being displayed by one of the numerous top brands or being sold by one of the army of retailers selling all the latest tackle and accessories you could possibly need.

So if you want to find out what’s new in the fishing world or simply looking for a bargains, then the Big One 2012 is the definitely the one angling event of the year that you should put in your calendar
