A Change Of Venue Produces The Goods

We have just received word from the UKMA specialist guru Alan Staggm of his quest for a big eel coming finally to an end. The Gardner Tackle/ Sonubaits rod made the decision to change venues after a dozen previous attempts earlier in the year had come up fruitless for him. So he decided to change venues give an alternative private, 30 acre water a try, and on his first night , Alan produced the goods yet again and landed a stunning 4lbs 14oz beast.

This impressive eel fell to a small dead Rudd head cast 30 yards to a clear area. Alan kept it simple with his tackle consisted on Gardner Tackle's12lb Hydro Tuff mainline, a 2oz running lead, 14 inches of 35lb Vigilante hooklength and a size 4 Incizor hook also from Gardner Tackle.

UKMA had a chat with Alan and asked him how the events of the night unfolded, he told us ;

“The bite came at first light and started off very slow before picking up in pace. For those of you who shy away from big eels you don’t know what you’re missing! The fight from an eel is pound for pound as exciting as anything you are likely to catch on a still water and the power from the first run of a big eel is an unbelievable experience”.
