SIRIO 4000vi Fixed spool reel
RRP £49.99

The Sirio are a compact front drag reel that is as much at home plugging, in the 2000 to 4000 ranges, but on the continent you will commonly see them being used by match anglers for heavy slider and feeder work. Don't be fooled into thinking this reel doesn't pack a punch, with up to 5kg of Front Drag Power those bigger fish will be tamed with confidence and speed by this versatile reel.

So what you have here is a powerhouse all rounder that will handle virtually any situation you will come across in normal freshwater angling situations. The SIRIO range of reels come supplied with a V- Shaped large alloy spool fitted as standard and also come supplied with a spare graphite spool. The Front Drag clutch system is precise, making it very easy to make the finest of adjustments.

One of the biggest plus point of this reel is the superb One-Touch Handle system, by pushing a button located on the knuckle of the handle, this releases the handle to be folded towards the spool and bail arm. This makes the handle sit in a flat position, which makes the transporting and storage of made up rods an exceptionally simple task, insuring no more broken reel handles.

The 4000vi we reviewed has impressed me with the general quality of build and superb line lay. After many years of being a fond believer in only using the best reels money can buy but obviously to a sensible budget of say £120.00, I was instantly stunned to find out that the SIRIO 4000vi was being sold for Less then £50.00, a “Reel bargain” in my eyes. (Excuse the pun)

I took the DORADO to Boddington Reservoir and coupled it up with the SIRIO 4000vi to hopefully connect with one the resident big Pike. Unfortunately the resident predation had other ideas and after 3 hours of constant casting I had had no sign of a take, I also had no arm ache. The Dorado managed to effortlessly cast a 40g Lure to distances of 50yds and make the chore a very easy on.

To compliment the DORADO’s efforts, the SIRIO 400vi had also put in a first team performance. At no point did the reel feel out of its league, constantly retrieving the line and laying it back on the spool in a floorless manner. The anti-reverse switch is conveniently place at the rear of the reel and is switchable by simply flicking out your little finger to switch it on or off.

Final Thoughts
Tubertini have produced a rod and reel that will make any lure anglers day on the bank an effortless pleasure. I’m far from being a lure expert and don’t claim to no much more about the equipment but I do know a good quality rod and reel when I see on and the DORADO Spinning rod 20/40 and the SIRIO 4000vi fixed spool reel make even the novice lure angler like myself look the part, top quality at fair prices
